If you take the fish without a net it explodes... and you are covered in fish bits... but there is one person who can help wash them off (and you charge them for the service) plus then the angry man who had the fish in the bed starts to give you hints for the other riddles since you've helped him.
If you get rid of the fish using a net... you get a fish bomb. I think you can arm it and use it against the guy (the fisherman) who put it there later (once you've solved the riddle of the armour boy)... but it is all a diversion.
