To beat the servant, make sure you have the following items/magic:
A Clawsword (or better)
Herb Boots of Speed
Confusion Spell
Cast confusion on the demon slime. Equip sword, wack him with a sword, but be careful, he recovers from confusion very quickly. Once he recovers, equip the herb boots and run around till your magic charges up. Repeat until he splits in two. Now just fight like a crazy person armed with a sword. That's how I beat the little b*****d. He IS quite tough, probably a little too tough considering...
