Ah, doesn't making d-mods make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Upon playing through Cloud Csatle 2 again, I keep finding all these little things I'd forgotten about. Let me explain...
1) My First D-mod: There is a book case in the library which tells of wizards teleporting people to Salamak as a punishment for annoying them. This is actually a reference to the first d-mod I ever made (before Cloud Castle), that was entitled...Scarab.
At the beginning of this d-mod, Dink had an argument with a wizard, who teleported Dink into a desert to piss him off.
2) The Spin-Off: The never released spin of d-mod, Nerux (where you controlled Dinks foe from the first Cloud Castle contained a mini-game where you controlled Thargo the Giant Pig, and had a time limit in which you had to eat all the villagers from Alessa's home town - The same map was used for the "Alessa's Memory" sequence in CC2.
This d-mod also featured more of Fabian and Alessa's past, creating a nice bit of back-story, and giving the d-mod series a bit more continuity (for us anyway!).
3) The Bad Guy: Monkeynuts, whilst originally named this as a bit of a joke, has become such a wonderful villain in my mind. A she dogin' and thoroughly megolomaniacal fairy, hopelessly bent on world domination and with a serious addiction to coffee, Monkeynuts is my favourite character from the series thus far.
Things like this make me very happy. It just feels nice to have created a pretty cohesive Dinkiverse of our own (though I don't know if others would agree).
The ongoing creation of Cloud Castle 3 only reinforces this, with Dink's village from Cloud Castle, as well as Alessa's hometown all being visible on the same world map.
Do other d-mod authors have similar in-jokes, and do they also have many things for their own Dinkiverse (SOB Dinkiverse, DD Dinkiverse) that only they are aware of?
Hmm?
