I am posting this here first to tell you that Im making a DMod and also as a thread for any questions I may have.
You see after playing the original Dink and then the Mods I of course immediately wanted to make a mod. Not only for fun, but to put to use my vast imagination (mostly naked woman dancin' in there...thanks SimonK!) and hopefully help the community that's given me so much joy for free.
So I started by beta testing Dink at the end of last summer when I was done with all the D-Mods. I spent a month trying Sabretrout Castle 2: Cloud and also Initiation. Then I played Dink Goes Boating though I was enjoying way to much for the tutorial. I then downloaded all the utilites and WinDinkEdit.
After a month I figured out how everything worked and altered some simple maps (the Choas mod) to see how I could make things. I also listened to all the midi's while learning and deleting one's I thought were bad or named the one's I recognized then categorized them by theme.
The next month I actually set up the complete map for my D-Mod. I had a story set up that had all the characters and the plot ready, but not specific dialogue or the exact order of events. By that time my finals started and I stopped making the mod...
So zoom to now. Im still busy in college, but I have little bits of time each day to make it little by little. I havent worked on it in months, but now I just have to write the story, code it, and add a few sprites once I have the characters in mind.
Now for a question. I know I asked long ago when I first started, but I forgot. In WinDinkEdit when your in sprite mode how do you bring up the list of sprite's? You know the series of boxes with pictures?
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller
