You can get a yellow trout (i think that's what it's called) in the north-east area by hitting or throwing axes or something like that. But, I don't think there is ever any use for it except maybe restore health by eating. The only way to get magic starts in the far east (scroll) and ends in the far west (learn). If I'm wrong someone please tell us.
