Seth released v1.07 to FIX problems? It causes more problems than it fixes! It would be helpful if you supplied three pieces of information, bdjnk:
1) What service pack are you running? SP4?
2) Have you upgraded DirectX at all? (Windows 2000 comes with 8.1, I think.)
3) What is that "useless obscure" error message?
The likely causes are you either have "Advanced text services" enabled, which allows you to use language features other than English, or you have a situation called "DLL Hell". I can't tell you much about that one without looking at the error message, though.
