Indeed I don't really remember, but I did get all secrets except one once (the one being to finish one of the minigames; that seems to be impossible without cheating).

So I looked it up for you in the source: the tree you need to punch is in the screen immediately left from the rock formation on the right (screen 500), in the middle of that screen. When you punch it with the fire fist, it reveals a secret room which contains the secret scroll you're after.
