The actual number is irrelevant and may change; what is important is that they are the same.
sp() works from any sprite script, so if you want to use the number of some other sprite and you know its editor_num, the fact that it gives you the same number twice means that it works.
So if you use that and what you try doesn't work, something else is wrong with it.
