We can simply wait until the deadline comes near and people can tell how long they need to do the last little things on their DMODs...
This is my favorite solution. I wouldn't be against extending the deadline right now to say March or something if the contest wasn't already over halfway through to the deadline. I agree that extending the deadline multiple times probably isn't a great idea, best to just wait and see how much time people need.
