Because Christmas is an over-commercialized holiday that by today's standards revolves around a fat guy who watches you poop. The most hilarious thing is is the fact that most children who learn that Santa Claus doesn't exist become more distrusting of their parents. It's also kinda sad too.
My cousin, on the other hand, celebrates Yule. Same basic gift-giving idea, but without the fat guy. Giving gifts because you appreciate a person, not because you're expected to.
