Please please please talk to your staff on how they can ban someone. Your legacy is being destroyed as we speak. We need your help once more, if but for a short while 
Also, some members can't create an account for some reason (Shevek comes to mind) and they really deserve one. On the other hand, if this can be fixed, please remove ghost posting all together. That together with a ban feature can restore order to this place.
And I remember the telefragged days. For me, that was a site that loaded really fast on a 56k modem despite the content being on one page for the most part
