Stuck in the ocean near Koka Island!

I went the island of Koka, met the giant ducks, did some gambling then went along my merry way to the bridge that connects Koka to the other part of the island but I accidentally walked east past the bridge, off the island, and into the ocean. Now I can't get back on land! I'm blocked from shore and stuck walking on water with nothing to do... I can't even kill ducks how can I get back on land? I really don't feel like starting over...
