Yes, you read my comment wrong, Godley. I've met enough Aussies and Brits both personally and online to have seen some of the best and worst characters. For instance, a fair number of the Australians I've met in person have been rude, belligerent, ignorant assholes. The funny thing is that these are stereotypes that Americans often are attributed, too. However, there have been other Australians that I've had the pleasure of meeting that were very cool, decent people whose company I enjoyed greatly.
@skull: I think you'll find that are lots of people that have been through some serious shit, but don't talk about it much. Denigrating those who you don't think didn't have it as bad as you just earns you zero sympathy and makes them resent and disbelieve you. Yeah, bad shit happens, and being able to joke about it really does help, IMO. Plus, you know, it gave me a chance to quote Monty Python.
