This is the problem with the game industry Game designers want to make their own awesome game and they use their story they have in their head, except, it sucks balls most of the time. This isn't too surprising. Specific artists are hired for art, music, concept art, animation, ... Programmers are hired for the game systems. PR people for the business end. But the story, often something I look for in a game, is not left to a real writer or someone who's actually experienced at writing stories.

I think offering your abilities as a story writer is a valid offer, but of course as a modding community people usually just want to make their own games by themselves, completely, every aspect. But, perhaps you could offer some samples of stories you've written before?
