Lol, your IP address is freely accessible, I could get a script that finds the IP of the people who visit a certain webpage and email them to me. When I owned my own forums, I frequently examined peoples IP addresses.
Just having your IP address doesn't give you some magic key that unlocks someones computer, it is just an address, like your home address. If everyone knew your home address, that wouldn't give them access to all your possesions, would it? You would have locks on your doors. Computers have programs to stop people accessing your files, windows even has (primitive) web defense tools installed, though it is still good to get a proper firewall.
