Its beyond me how this guy got so good.

It's called memorizing the map and the enemy patterns.

i'll be impressed when he gets that speedrun on a printer

(people mod doom into anything, printers, atms, watches, coffee machines)

Tool Assisted Speedruns. Basically they play the game one frame at a time.

That would be impressive too. My patience would run out at about frame 10.
