Re: Do you play/want to learn how to play a musical instrument?
Well, do you?
Tell then! Spill the beans!
I'd like to learn how to play the guitar. Electric guitar.

I don't mean to brag, but I can play my willy banjo pretty well.
I can play trumpet/horns (mediocre), flute (mediocre), piano/keyboard (Decent), sing (mediocre?), and recorder (crappy/mediocre). Trumpet used to be my instrument of choice, until I stopped being able to improve my range and endurance. After practically declining on it for a year or so and getting out of High School I just stopped playing. Now my instruments of choice are piano and flute, though some of the same problems I've had with the trumpet have passed over subtly to the flute...
If I owned every instrument I'd probably want to learn just about all of them to some degree, though I doubt I'd have that kind of time and energy.

I used to play baritone horn for many years. I'm pondering on starting again.
I've played clarinet for almost 10 years now, and I'm pretty damn good at it. I also have experience with alto/tenor saxophone, trumpet, flute, piano, as well as guitar. I'm a decent enough drummer as well. I'm really into music.
For about a decade I played guitar at an absolute-beginner level. You might wonder how that's even possible, but it's easy if you never really practice.
I want to learn how to play the piano and the violin, my younger brother wants to learn how to play the harp.
I'm currently learning how to make music with a MIDI synthesizer.

Ive been playing guitar since I was 15
I've been told I'm a good singer, but I dunno.
I've always been reluctant to call anyone a good singer unless they can blow my mind with their voice. Plus I've never actually sung around anyone but my close friends...
I'm too shy to perform

I'm playing the piano every now and then, been less in the summer though so my reading skills aren't up to date.
i'm a self-taught piano player, music producer, (i like doing midis as well!)
i can't read music but i'm very good at telling the note by ear

If I can pick out the base melody of at least one instrument, I can replicate it with trial and error.

Transcribing a whole piece this way by ear is a great exercise to improve your ability to take in all the instruments of a piece of music when you listen.

I know, whenever I listen to a complex theme, I first listen for the bass, because a bassist acquaintance told me that bass is the base of the melody, then usually comes the drums, and then the rest of the music. I'm still trying to learn how bass and drums factor into a song, but I'm slowly growing to understand it.
If melody is the dialogue of a book, the bass and drums are the setting and the harmony is the descriptions and thoughts of the characters.
That's one way to think of it anyways. I just made it up though, so it might not work best for everyone.

I'd like to learn the piano personally, but like Kris I've been trying Anvil studios to make music/midis. I'd also like to learn something like the violin maybe, so I could possibly play "Devil went down to Georgia"
