What do you look for the most when playing a dmod?
I'm sure this thread/a thread like it has been done before but I just wanted to make a recent one and see what people like most.
I find that it's really hard for me to enjoy a dmod if the story is weak. So I'm definitely one to put the majority of my focus on the story.
So how about you?

For games as a whole I look at gameplay as the most important element, but story and lore figures into the gameplay for me a little bit. This is because my enjoyment to continue to the next moment of the game is exacerbated when I'm also curious of the next plot point, funny moment, interesting dialog, etc. If there is nothing but fighting enemies ahead of me, than they better be dang fun enemies or I'll probably get bored really fast.
Also, any game where I get stuck all the time will quickly lose it's charm for me. This is why I couldn't enjoy FIAT or Stone of Balance despite getting really far in both of them. That's not how most people feel, considering they're two of the highest praised DMODs on the entire site. But for me, they just aren't fun. Length and pretty new graphics doesn't equate to fun for me, it takes much more.
I suppose really what draws me most to DMODs or games in general is just how well each element of the game combines with eachother to make the game enjoyable to continue. So for me it's not one factor but the combination of many. I can play a DMOD that's lacking one element, like story or gameplay, but to enjoy it the other elements have to work extra hard to fill in that missing gap. Like when the story is so good it becomes the game itself, to see what happens next. Or when the gameplay is just so fun that a story where you are traveling around getting stronger just happens to be good enough. But I think what's best is when It's really fun, and has a great story, visuals, etc. That's hard to do in the small scale of a DMOD, especially since it's normally just one person making it, but it's certainly my favorite kind of game.

Just like in any other game, anything that grabs my interest and gives me that "Oh yeah, we got something I really enjoy here" -feeling. It's really hard to point out just one thing. It can basically be anything from music to storyline. In D-Mods especially, every element drives another. The more attention-drawing things there are, the better, of course.
In other words, I have no good answer.
