The real place where Stephenie Meyer got her ideas.
Vampire Knight is an anime/manga (my favourite, because this is the only one I've watched/read in my life ) about a school where vampires and humans co-exist.
It's been running from 2005.
Sadly, the vampires are portrayed as 'Twilight vampires' (beautiful, strong, etc.) instead of 'Dracula vampires' which is a shame since everyone knows Dracula vampires are the real ones.

This news has just filled my heart with rainbows!
Nah. I still believe the fact that she got her inspiration from a wet dream she had. :/

Actually, Vampire Knight still hold to the 'dracula' type, aside from burning.
These Vampires don't sparkle, they kick ass, they've got magical powers, and everything makes more sense. Just because they've got girls after them doesn't mean that they're Twilight quality. VK is one of my favorite Animes, next to Wolf's Rain, Soul Eater, and a few other really good shows. Unlike Twilight, Vampire Knight is filled with intrigue, a much more subtle romance, and a good storyline. Twilight is filled with constant quotes from Wuthering Heights, a book I've heard is better than the whole danged series, romance that is stockholm syndrome at best, and bad writing. Seriously, Vampire Knight at least has a skilled writer behind it. Also, wasn't Dracula capable of making the ladies swoon so he could drink their blood?

Yes, in Bram Stoker's Dracula, the vampires have magical seductive abilities, which is a great way to get people close enough to bite their necks. Jonathan Harker had a close call with some female vampires while he was in Dracula's castle.
