I suppose I'm kinda helpless, but how do you get through the vines in the temple, do get to the fountain, to become human again, to get through the vines? I'm at a loss.

Become human and cut through the vines.

but how do I become human, if I can't get to the fountain?

There's a wall with a space under to walk through.
