Twins by Binrit is the winner of the Evil Hero D-mod Contest.

THE GOOD STUFF:

The storyline was very well done as was the way you go through it. But it started to be a little confusing in the beginning which could have stopped people from getting further in it. My favorite part of the d-mod was the choice making. It's usually implemented in most d-mods to do conversation and such, but most of these choices to be made in this d-mod can drastically change the game and storyline. For example, at one point you have to find a hero's gland to make a drink out of it. (don't ask) But, it turns out it's extremely expensive. If you go crazy and kill everyone, you can skip ahead in the story. While, if you payed, you'd have to go through more of the adventure and give up 4000 gold pieces. Another great feature to this d-mod was the sound and music. There are many sound effects, monkeys, tarzan, etc. But my favorite had to be the screaming sound from the father. It freaked me out at first, I thought some animal was trapped in my room, but it was only the game. The music is spectacular. The intro music is my 2nd favorite song and the classical music played when seeing hundreds of dead corpses sort of... well, put a wicked smile on my face. All the midis are top notch, from the banjo music down in the caves to the midi playing at the stone island, they definitely add a great element to Twins. The cutscenes are especially polished and well done. The crowd outside of the palace was neat how more people kept showing up and the cheer shouted from the villagers made me feel as if I were with them.

THE BAD STUFF:

A few things I disliked about the d-mod was the puzzling beginning of it as mentioned before. And a few story oriented things also confused me, why would Dink have a flashback of the queen having him, if he thought his father saved him? One last thing that stopped me from giving a higher score was the banjo music in the caves. The music was good, but it didn't loop and the author forgot to assign the music somewhere in the caves so you could hear it again.

OUTCOME:

Twins is a great d-mod, don't let the beginning get you down or you could miss the time of your life.

Good things, very little killing. Great scenery especially the graphics will all the sunflowers. Not your typical Dink adventure.Good ending where everyone comes together in friendship and finally one that I could finish.

Not so good
I could not follow the story line explained by the wizards. Too many words. Too much walking in the caves and talking to people in the first part of the game that had nothing to say. You get the fireball but you could really use that in the first scene where there many trees after that there really is no use for it.

Hint
If you don't find the secret island you don't have the power to go through the cave where the slimes are because there are about 3 screens full of slime before you get to the organ you have to bring to the bar. You don't get enough gold to buy the drink so you "go berserk". There is no way to get gold like punching monsters or trunks. So save yourself the effort go berserk get transported to the black caves by the wizard.

The music was good. The story is about a hero and so there is a midi that plays on the island where the sunflowers are. I felt I was walking in a park with cottages and flowers, I loved it.

Good: Great music (Awesome jazz-classical renditions of Livin' la Vida Loca and Last Resort), sound effects, the new animals (monkeys and elephants) are kinda cheesy, but in a good way. I really liked playing this dmod.

Bad: The beginning is a bit confusing but the dmod gets better the further along you go. There are many open spaces, repetitive enemies, there is no real challenging parts and no attempt to make any by the author. However, that isn't necessarily a bad thing if that wasn't what the author was aiming for.

Overall: I rated it 8.5 because it was fun to play for a few hours, and thankfully not tedious or repetetive, and I think those are two factors that have to be part of any romp.

The name might not be the best, but the game itself is!

Great:

The story was slightly confusing in places, but it finally explained everything in the end. Apparently, the Queen is having a baby and the Good Mistress is trying to take over the world. There's more to it than that, but I really don't want to spoil it, there's a huge plot twist in the end! One element I really enjoyed in this d-mod is the choice making. At some parts, it asks you what to say or what to do. Unlike any other d-mods, these choices can really shape the outcome of the game. But, what's a good d-mod without good music? It, in my opinion, was the best music and sound effects I've ever heard. The screaming of the father, the cheering of the crowd, the sound effects were just as great as the gameplay and story! Some music I enjoyed was the cave music, who would've thought anyone would use banjo music in a d-mod?!? It's hill-billy themed for god's sake! But, I can't forget the town music, it was funny hearing classical when you're seeing the remnants of people's corpses! Of course, the regular music was also good, Such as the beggining forest and tiltle screen.

Conclusion:

A really really really great d-mod, worth everyone's download!
