Love 2d
Love 2d is a really cool cross-platform game engine (or game library or whatever) that I found like three months ago.. It's really fun and not that hard to use.
The programming language is lua which I myself find a bit annoying, but it's ok.
I really recommend it if you like making small games in your free time.

I want to learn Lua sometime because it seems to be used in a lot of software, especially games, judging by the Wikipedia article. Plus it probably doesn't have glaring bugs and limitations, unlike some game scripting languages I know of.
