So if i was going to build a dmod then dinkedit would be the only way?

How would one go about making a "blank" dmod to start from?
I have looked in dinkedit however the lack of [key - legend] makes things painful.
i was going to follow the an introduction to dmod ... however i am running GNU/Linux Debian so the editor portion is rather useless ...
seen mention of a pydink however did not see anything like that in apt.
