Necromancer
It's coming out tomorrow.
I wish simonk would rear his random head. I sent him a PM and its been what seems like a month without one reply! Please SK if you are on the network notice the dinkers waiting for this game!
Dude, I really agree with your sentiment on that one. Ask anyone, or read my posts. However, even I'm not going to BEG for it.
If Simon wants to disappear completely into anonymity, or start living like J.D. Salinger, that's completely his business. Nothing you do is going to change that.
I think maybe you got a little carried away, here.

If you want Simon to reply you should probably pretend to be a pretty, young girl.
Funny how one comma can make the difference between something amusing and something with felonious implications.
If you want Tal to reply you should probably pretend to be a pretty young girl.
You know what would be funny right now? If Tal used his pwnzor admin powers to change Striker's avatar to the little girl.
It'd be nice if my admin powers could automatically rope some hot Dinker girl into my lair of debauchery and sin.
...there was this one girl, her name's Ashley, she posted here a year or two ago and a;rlhgandgaldfshoa she is beautiful. I still keep in touch with her, actually. But someone planted his seed before me.

Hey, remember Alli? That chick was a slut
Hey, that's rude. I liked her. I never really got why she left though.
If you want to contact him why not send him an email? He never turns up here to check his PMs.
The address on his profile still works, I know cos I contacted him a few weeks ago.

She understood that she would no longer be liked here.
Nagging a D-Mod author to develop a D-Mod is so.. not done; SimonK has long moved on with other things and only the young among us think he's really going to finish it. He might, of course
I didn't nag about anything! I only contacted him to get permission to use a couple of his sounds and things in Bug Mania.
I wasn't really saying that Megadog should nag either, just pointing out that sending a PM to someone who never comes here any more is a bit pointless.

Er, yeah, that actually makes me none-the-wiser. Well, actually, I suppose it tells me that she did something that wasn't appreciated, but that's about all I could infer from what you said.
Meh, I was just joking around... and though I could inform of you of what happened, I'll leave that up to Tal's discretion.
Who are these people? Is this like, previous Dink history of something?
Don't go poking a hornets nest, unless you realize that it's probably a hornets nest.
Just sayin'.
Just sayin'.
Am I to understand that people (and Tal) were picking up chicks on here and I missed out?!
Darn it all!
Darn it all!
Previous Dink history summarized:
allikitten frequented the Dink Network back in 2002 and well into 2003. She hated John Mellencamp. She liked me. I liked her. She became my first girlfriend, and it was a long-distance ordeal. 8 months or so after entering said relationship, I boarded a Greyhound bus and rode nearly a thousand miles to spend a week with her. Hindsight reveals that she wasn't really that attractive beyond sharing some of my interests, but I still maintain that the best week of my life was spent in Minnesota. Soon thereafter, she spent two weeks in Tennessee with me, and that was enough to pull back the veil hiding her unfavorable traits. Then she dumped me, and we traded more verbal barbs than you could find in every internet flame war combined. She fell under the impression that each and every Dinker would loathe her further presence at the DN, so she high-tailed it indefinitely. I didn't and don't care whether she posts here or not, but I sincerely doubt she'll make a return after half a decade of absence.
EatTheRats still keeps up with her, and I still keep up with EatTheRats, so it isn't very difficult to pin down her internet whereabouts. I lost interest in tracking her a long time ago, though, so that barely matters.
allikitten then started dating a goth-goon boyfriend and tried her best to emulate him in each and every way. Fool that I was, I tried to kiss ass and pose a little bit myself to either win back her faith or at least her friendship, I don't remember. Their strong interest in KMFDM (an industrial rock group) led me to download a few songs and tread in their footsteps. Alli has long since left that particular guy and probably has minimal interest in KMFDM these days, but my sad attempt to impress her actually left me infatuated with KMFDM, followed by industrial music in general. Recently I have even considered entering the realm of music and possibly making a career of it. You could say, then, that allikitten did leave an impact that still ripples to this day.

Ah. It's nice to finally have some sense of understanding of her abrupt disappearance. Not long after she left, she cut off contact with me by (er, well, I believe, anyway) changing her AOL S/N and not telling me what the new one was. I managed to drop by her web site at one point, it was called something like "geek squad" with a horrible design and it was devoid of interesting content, but I'm pretty sure it was hers.
I also remember EatTheRats leaving, yeah. About the same time too, wasn't it? Or does my memory serve me wrong? At least I remember that the two got along very well; she always spoke highly of him.
It's not like I've been consumed by a desire to know this story, but it's been there in the back of my head all this time, and once Striker mentioned her, it got pulled out of its dusty storage bin back there in the brain and into daylight again. Closure has been given to it now, so thanks for telling the story, Tal. May your musical career prosper.

That lays to rest one of the two things that I've got questions about in dink drama history.
That tickles my curiosity, Chrispy. What's the other thing?
Just what the hell was up with the anon wars. I know that someones (not someone) e-mail address was comprised. Other than that, I hear nothing, I see nothing, I know nothink!
When was this? I don't remember this at all.
This was both before you were around, and it involved Dink World, which I never really visited till it had been largely abandoned... at least till the DN's great migration from Gamespy's servers.
I'm pretty sure that was my e-mail address that was "comprised" (compromised). Other than that, I honestly don't remember much about it... WC would probably be able to share some info.
Yeah, the only reason I even know of it, was that when I first arrived there was a large discussion about not bringing it up ever again. So, of course, every few years, I've brought it up.
How long ago was it, you said? I've been around since late 1999. And I do remember a Dink World, although it might've just been its resurrection.
There was a Dink World somewhere in 2004 or 2005, when the DN moved from gamespy to another server. It used to provide a file mirror for files hosted here, but didn't last long. That's the only Dink World I've actively visited, though I may have stumbled on the old Dink World way way way back then.
In SimonK's Dink Goes Boating T-Mod, there's stuff about everyone's life story, and 'WC' tells about the anon wars. Can't remember much about it though, go check it out for yourself.
Anyone else remember the hell of 3d-downloads?
This turned into lots of reminiscences. While we're at it, remember Medar's board and the amazing adventures at it.. a mystical death, and attempts at posting genital images on the board, and probably other stuff I can't think of right now.
I have a feeling I stopped playing d-mods "regularly" around 3DDownloads time. It probably wasn't the reason, though, but it was annoying as hell.

Ouch, yes. I was no member at that time, but I did get me a lot of D-Mods from them. It was when I just started playing Dink.
PotA. Dial-up. 3d-downloads. It was pain.
PotA. Dial-up. 3d-downloads. It was pain.
Yep. I even once figured out at what rate they altered the ftp path, so I could maximize my downloading time. Because, you know, letting people being able to resume downloads would have been easy.
*Sigh* More old school Dink history? Someone please fill me in.
I've been here since early '06, and I've never got a chance to know what the "3DDownloads" is... Please, explain.
Old, OLD filehost that we used. Every 15-30 min, the ftp path of the file would change, so your downloads would get interrupted. No-one had dsl or cable back then, so large d-mods and dial-up made it all a pain in the arse.
You can think of using ftp as using a file-browser on a server. You can 'browse' files and directories, although all of the interesting ones require login. It's fallen out of favour as of late, if I recall correctly.

Okay, so, that's like, 10% of previous Dink Network history I'm filled in on. Anyone else want to tell me anything else about previous DN history? So, I'm like, more knowledgeable of the past and stuff? It's very interesting, also, reading about this stuff.
At lot of it is mostly old arguments over inane things, philosophy, ideology, etc.
(this after reading the first ten posts)
A lovely tribute to this thread: a song performed by me *ahem, ahem*
lullaby, and goodnight,
Go to sleep, dear Lolita
When you wake, th' thread's still a bore
It's pettiness will send you back your snores...

Oh, I see... Tal's admin powers are working now.
The Dink Network is like a cheese factory that rarely produces anything apart from cheese.
