Poor Pluto
For those of you that don't already know (and are interested, which I'll admit won't be many), Pluto has ben kicked out the solar system. In a non-literal sense anyway.
I thought it was, that there were several other bodies joining the planet club?
//Commas are good for you!
//Slashies are better.
//Commas are good for you!
//Slashies are better.
I don't say this very often but... pwnt.

I'm just going off what the shorts for the News said about it.
I guess the shorts were wrong, eh
Edit: For now anyway, the planet addition has yet to be voted on, at the very least.

I've looked into it and it seems it was not so much incorrect as bad wording. Pluto is getting redefined as an asteroid instead of a planet. due to it being so tiny.
And where did you find this? Or did I skip over it in the linked article?
Then, I think you misspoke yet again. Thus far, none of the news sources I've searched have said anything about calling it an asteroid... however, there is a proposal to call it "pluton", which is essentially a dwarf planet.
Nothing has been officially decided yet, so you can't actually know that Pluto is getting redifined as an asteroid, as Tal stated.

Pluto is not currently a planet or an asteroid, but a Kuipier Belt Planetoid... look it up.
Forget Pluto - whatever happened to Xena
EDIT: According to the article- the same characteristics used to make Pluto a planet would allow Xena to be planet number 10.

Actually I never said I knew. I said that the site said that. Besides I said "seems", which is indicative of the fact that I am taking what I saw with a grain of salt.
Nothing I saw said that. It is also evident that what the other's saw didn't say that.
"I said that the site said that."
Which site? I really am curious.

Interesting... that seems to indicate that you know that Pluto is no longer considered a planet, rather than it was just an article stated that. And so far, I have yet to see any article that has definitely claimed that Pluto's classification status has been confirmed.

Rather than quote the site I'll go one better: the news is on now, so I'll tell you what it says as soon as the article is on.

Of course that means it doesn't exist.
Of course that means it doesn't exist.
I just looked it up, and the proposal is thus:
Pluto may become part of a new group of planetoids, known as Plutons. These will include Pluto, Ceres, Charon, Xena, and Sedna. This is the topic out for debate- it does appear that the number of planets will change to either 12 or 8. Xena and Sedna have a pretty good claim to planethood, or maybe Plutonhood...

When have I ever said anything about Pluto not existing?
When have I ever said anything about Pluto not existing?
Solar system model:
Oort Cloud>Kuipier Belt>Pluto>Neptune>Uranus>Saturn>Jupiter>AsteroidBelt>Mars>Earth>Ven.>Mer.>Sun
None of this exists
EDIT: Ceres, Sedna, Xena... Pluto's not being discriminated against, look- he even has homies.

I never said you said that! I was saying that your not finding the article must mean the article doesn't exist. It was sarcasm.
I was right. The news did use bad wording. The article said that it is being considered to change it's clasification. So I don't know why the news said, "Pluto has been kicked out of the solar system" as that does not accurately portray what the article was about. In fact it was utterly inaccurate to the content to the article.
And some body called 3 something, can't recall exact name.
Tal, love is what Mommy, Daddy and SimonK do in the bedroom when the door is locked.
Probably. However, I am a bit of a purist. I want accuracy not attention grapping crap.
Not being familiar with grapping, I don't think I would want my attention grapped. Sounds vile.

Long live the Blogosphere!! But really, I look upon television with disdain, because, while they don't necessarily tell you a lie, they only tell some of the truth. Then they chop up a story and keep the other information for one of those two hour specials on the Discovery Channel... So I prefer getting News from the internet, papers, and Stephen Colbert.

Corrected

Well, the only way to really know something is to be there and experience it for oneself... these ARMCHAIR newscasters actually know next to nothing- they get all their news by unknown investigators that do all the work, but must be excessively shy since they never do any of the stories themselves.
I want accuracy not attention grapping crap.
Funny how that contradicts your first post... but then, I guess it's just not worth your time to check the accuracy of a statement before posting it as new topic to the board, right?

So why are you complaining about the news not adequately covering stories, then, if you acknowledge that they are unable to?

Because there are much better sources than the mainstream media... maybe they are still not completely reliable... but they are often better than say, those directly funded by TimeWarner or News Corporation.
I'm curious, what do you deem the most reliable news sources?

We don't have any equivalent of the Discovery Channel or the likes here, so we don't have that issue. However with free-to-air digital television coming at the end of the year or next year that may change. At least once it becomes the more dominant medium.

I watch the Grapping Channel
EDIT: I really cannot define what I deem a good news source, because I find the best information is usually gleemed by finding interviews with those involved... but Reuters and NPR are alright... when I just want a broad overview, I usually turn to them...Though I will watch news television long enough to get the headlines... thats all that really captivates my interest usually. Like today- the news television blared on for hours about JonBenet Ramsey suspect being picked up in Thailand... Somehow, being told about a story that I heard way too much about 5 years before it died out completely does not captivate that much interest to me... to those involved, perhaps, but me, I could care less.

Actually it was only a contradiction of the wording I used, which didn't really get across what i meant. I'm bad at getting across my meaning unless I have plenty of time to think about it.
Aye, some stories are a bit overplayed in the media regardless of whether facts are stretched or not - ten years later, who really cares who killed JonBenet? I understand it being more prominent that most news, but by-the-minute headline grabbing over something that bears no significance to anyone outside the family is a waste.
I'm a little upset that mommy and daddy have simonk in their
bedroom. What are those 3 up to anyways?

Weed. And watching the teletubbies.
How did you know which one I was watching? I never actually said which one. At least I don't think I did. I could be wrong. Anyway, I prefer 3 News over One News. Prime News is propably the best, but it's only 30 minutes so covers less stories. For example it didn't cover that story.
Regardless of whether or not Pluto is considered a planet, it is still there... it would change in and only in name...
i find global morning news to be the best. It covers pretty much everything
I haven't watched the news in several years. I don't look up news sites, and I don't read the newspaper. The closest I come to see news is Fark.com, and "It's not news; It's Fark.com". I don't think I've missed much.
Along those lines, was there some sort of murder recently? I've overheard two or three people talking about some killing or something.

Naw, just JonBenet come back from the dead to haunt us.
the only thing i heard about a murder was they found a suspect for some ten year old murder trial
"Prime News is propably the best, but it's only 30 minutes so covers less stories. For example it didn't cover that story."
Three News only covers about 30 minutes of actual news as well. It wastes the first ten minutes or so rambling about whatever random story it's decided is the most important...presenting no new information for at least nine of those minutes, then briefly covers some other stories for the next fifteen minutes and goes into sport, which in my opinion is not news.
And don't get me started on Campbell Live. Eugh.
"How did you know which one I was watching? I never actually said which one."
Er...really, you didn't? Haha, I'd better ease off on the stalking I guess.

Who the hell is Jon Benet?
A noble quest indeed.
Really, I think LadyValoveer is "that person" in your backyard of who you've always wondered who the heck he/she is and how the heck he/she came there. Even if you don't have a backyard and if there's no such person

anyway, pluto is now officially still a planet. Colbert called it. Case closed
I wanna know what love is.
In fact, I want you to show me.
In fact, I want you to show me.
I normally enjoy Andrew Kepple's toons, but that was really weak
Yep it's official Pluto is out... Gonna take a while to get used to thinkin there's only 8 official planets now.
Lol, no. It's just in a new category called dwarf planet now instead of a planet. There are also 3 new dwarf planets.
What am I supposed to do with these weapons of planetary destruction then?
I've recently discovered the hub for all the YTMND's that I always thought were individual sites. After spending an hour each day browsing the old best ones and all the new ones I've found they are updated constantly to stay modern and just yesterday I saw alot about Pluto.
