I declare June 2 to be International Annual Literalist Day. On at least one day of the year, we deserve to know that the words of a post convey its actual meaning. On at least one day of the year, we deserve freedom from having to decipher anti-phrase and appreciate irony. On at least one day of the year, we deserve a respite from the constant barrage of snide remarks flying over our heads.

And that day is June 2.
