As most of you will have noticed I havent been active in the DC for a while. Ive been playing in band lately and Ive got into modmaking for thief 2 so I really dont have any time left for Dink.

Dinking is no passing phase in people's youth as so many sources claim. It will be back to haunt whoever leaves, and one that tastes it once, will want more. There is no way to completely leave.

(someone really should develop net handcuffs. there are too many people leaving)

I assume he means Thief, The Dark Project. I've only got Thief 1. It's a 1st person action adventure, 3D. You have to steal things - go figure! I didn't like it that much, though, the NPC's are with strange angles, not very humanlike. I quit after the first assignment. Guess I'm no thief, huh?

net handcuffs? im been databasing personal information on everyone in the DC for 3 years now... i could get wydno and someone hostage and force feed them mashed potatos and "influence" them to make dmods.

people say they leave, some come back and some dont. its not like you can expect everyone to be a fanatic forever, but when they are tainted by the smallwood, the are changed forever. you cant leave it even if you want to. just go ahead try.

hmmmm..... Thanks for the review Bin ~but what about the controls? I've tried a few other demo games of the "newer" sort, and find the complicated key combinations (well, complicated when compared to Dink I suppose) frustrating, and the 3d angles hard to see where you are and it tends to make me dizzy and want to barf tsk.

It's a while ago that I played it, but I do remember that I had also difficulties at first. I believe that it was this game that had this training area; best thing to do is to do that for as long as it takes you to get a grip on it. I think I remember something with climbing, jumping, a bow and that sort of things. And don't try to fight; the best thing to do is use stealth and stay in the dark - only attack from behind.

It does! *Now* I remember I played a demo of this, or something similar.... I remember the "use the dark shadows" tip you get when you are in training. I remember the relief I felt when after a bit of fiddling with it, in a fit of pique I fled back to Dink Now.... if someone will just release something, I'd go quietly to play lol

I loved Thief, and Thief 2 was many times better than the original. I was a big fan of the original Quest for Glory, my favorite character was the thief, and I loved how you had to use stealth and brains to accomplish your objective, rather than slaughtering everything that got in your way. Thief was an extended first person version of that. You have to use your brains, observe your situation and come up with a plan to get you through an area.

Considering how much btter the enemy AI was in the recent No One Lives Forever 2 (in reguards to stealth), Thief 3 should be a real test for my mind.

And just in case someone here doesn't already know about this:

If you to do well at any first person game, you need to learn how to use the mouse and keyboard setup. One hand is on the mouse, this controls your ability to turn left and right and look up and down. This makes aiming at enemies sooo much easier. Your fingers rest on the W,A,S, and D keys. W and S move you back and forth, and A and D make you sidestep left and right respectively. If you take the time to learn this system, you'll wonder how you ever played without it.
