This is what is said in the tut1.txt:

Copy MAIN.C from the dink\story dir to the ATEAM\story dir. (oh, did I
mention you need to make a sub dir called STORY off your ATEAM dir?)

Next copy START*.* from the dink\story dir to ATEAM\story dir.

We can now customize them to our liking.

Edit the ATEAM\story\start-1.c file.

First of all, my files are named MAIN.d and Start-1.d and not c.
2nd of all, With what should I open it??

Mmmm, pizza.
You can't do anything with the *.d files. Check the source.zip file in the X:\what\ever\Dink\develop directory. It has all *.c scripts of the original game.

These *.c files you can open with almost any ASCII-editor (DON'T use Word, however, it screws things up. Preferably, use Notepad or Wordpad.)

also don't use wordpad, just use notepad or looking at your name... kladblok . Word puts in style (lettertypes, size, bold) and that screws up the whole shoot. (.d's are just compiled so that no-one can steal your scripts )

Or you could try using Easy DinkC 1.4 - it's pretty handy.

keep it real
wordpad works fine for me. it automatically saves in text-only if you save it as .c or .ini or .html or wha-eva.

Why is EDC1.4 good? What's the good side of it? And where can I get it?

Try here for EDC. Just download it, as well as the VBruntimes. Then run the program, and you'll notice three convenient menu's at the bottom of the screen. Tháts the good side of it It also has an easy-to-use project manager. Believe me and SimonK, it's great.

Hush. It's really quite horrifying. Be glad you can't see the source code underneath. Hell, that's something I'm glad I can't see myself in a sense.

I'm glad you like EDC and stuff, and uh.. some others might do, but it's buggy and slow and well.. just bad. EDC v2, whenever I get to completing it (I promised glennglenn to have it done by a wednesday in february 2009 I think... heh... something like that, so don't sit around waiting. )
