The winner of the Weird D-Mod Contest is Paul Pliska with Triangle Mover. Congratulations! Paul opted to receive a spiffy dagger for his prize. For more information, such as how the voting took place, read the comments.

Each staff member was to rank the D-Mods. Here are the rankings:

Some comments from a few of the staff...

Triangle Mover is top notch however. Nothing can compete in my opinion. It has great replayability and it's so darn fun!

Progeny is fun, but only for once, whereas Dreamweaver offers a much longer experience.

Progeny: Fun and creative, but unclean in the sexual and stable sense

Dreamweaver was pretty good for a first D-Mod, but it just wasn't weird enough.

I really didn't have any ideas for a prize, so I asked Paul what he would like to receive, and one of his choices was the previously mentioned Dagger.

And so ends the contest... maybe we'll have another one soon?

Congrats Paul! A well earned price indeed. I might enter the next contest, if I'm able to (am too bad a scripter for anything 'weird')

I got a bit scared off this competiton, I just don't have the DinkC skills to make a weird d-mod.
Congratulations to Paul, another wonderful bit of coding by the boy Pliska.
WEll done to Simonk and illusivefing as well, for entering their own very nice efforts.

For the next competition, why not something to do with "Story"? It's pretty subjective, but it could be a competition that is won by the best told story, not necessarily the most epic or whatever.
For example, Cycles of Evil is very well told, though it doesn't quite have the scale of, say, Legend of Tenjin.

The only problem with that is it is extremely difficult to create a total conversion... and even when the contest is 'easy', there aren't many entries.

I think just "best story" would be better.

Why? I hate saving the world over-over and over again.....

A good story would be with a bunch of twists and unexpected things.That would be a winner.

Dink: Whew, thankfully I killed her. Again.

King: I must say, it sounds like an awfully twisty and unexpected story.

Dink: I'll say!

[The 'King' rips off his disquise and reveals himself to be a giant banana]

Dink: Ack, another twisted and unexpected thing!

Banana: Dink, your king has been long dead. We're going to make a Dink Pie, and need to grind you up in order to make it.

Dink: Hey, it would be completely expected for me to fight back and kick some Banana ass, but because unexpected things are what it takes to be a winner, I'll just sit here and let you grind me up.

[Banana gets out the grinder and starts using it]

Dink: Ooh, that tickles! Wait... wait... aaahhahahwowow!

[Fade to black]

[Fade up to the King's castle full of Bananas eating Dink Pie]

Bananas in Unison: Mmmm, good! Wait, that might have been expected...

[Bananas explode into a vibrant array of bloody rainbows]

[Tiny pieces start to piece themselves back together forming...]

Dink: Howdy folks! That was unexpected, eh? I just figured out who my Dad was, the T-1000! Woohoo, time to go wipe out the rest of humanity!

[And with that, Dink destroyed all of humanity]

Yes congratulations again Paul, I was certain you'd win. Triangle Mover was clearly the best Weird DMOD. Great scripting, and great playability (Although I still can't solve level 9... anyone want to send me a pic of the correct position?).

As for Progeny being unclean I'm sure I gave it a wash before submitting. But most of the comments sum it up pretty well. It is really only playable once... and needed something more to it (At one point I thought of having this infected receptable that flies at the lower level and sends out a beam of crabs that infect Dink... but time prevented that from happening - probably for the best too )

That's probably the first level where timing really matters alot. If you've got that solution and it's doesn't work, it probably means the timing doesn't come out the same on your computer. Post here or e-mail me, because I'd really like to make sure it works on any computer.

Yeah... I couldn't get that to work at all. Somehow I just got the balls to bounce around enough without even getting to the goal.

congratulations paul. i played triangle mover and loved it. you deserved every bit of that first place. heh. i also like progeny, but it got hard as crap about the fifth level or so. i don't think my dick was big enough to beat it. . ah. well, though i feel like my dmod was a complete failure, i'm glad i entered it so that someone would be able to win the contest. i'm close to being finished with enough concept work to start working on Wizards of the Coastal Piracy, so you can probably expect that within the next year. I hope.

e-blades.com eh? Not that there was anything wrong in it but, (or that I knew anything about it ) TERÄ-ASEkeskus is surely a lot better. They have this cool intro animation and all.....

Okay, who want's to try a quick patch?
This should fix the not saving level 29 bug and the door timing bug. If it works I'll redo it in a slightly neater way and call it v1.1 I guess.

And illusivefing, your d-mod wasn't a failure, just not quite wierd enough for this contest.

The same goes for me. I tried a couple of dozen times and managed to start the thing fast enough for the life bar to refill just before the edge of the screen.

DreamWeaver didn't suck at all! Even though I'm the only one who put it in second place. The competition was strong, that's all. If it had been DreamWeaver against some other average d-mods in an ordinary d-mod of the month competition it would probably have won my vote. As for not being "weird" enough, I have a remark. The three entries were accepted. This means that now we had a contest between 3 d-mods and we had to choose the best. We didn't choose the BEST WEIRD d-mod, we chose the best d-mod that had to be weird. Or at least, that's how I rated them

People should design levels for this. It has great potential.

Now that's weird. How you've split that hair eludes me and is worthy of ... um... somone.

I meant it somewhat like this :

The USA needs to pick a president. A prerequisite is that the candidate must be human. If Jonny the Moose comes by he won't be a viable candidate and so he can not run for president.

Once it has been established that all candidates are human, they chose the best president, not the best human.

The former does not apply to the current president however
