Best personality trait for Dink?
I think that Dink's most endearing quality is that he is a hero who is seriously flawed in that he is not particularly bright, excessively violent and even rather embarrassingly vain, while often surprisingly courageous to the point of risking his life for a greater good.

I feel similarly to you about Dink's essence. Dink is at his best when he is well meaning but amateurish in his attempts to solve things.
For the poll itself, I think Heroic is the best option of the ones listed. The others are all aspects of him, but I don't like it when any of them are taken to the extreme with respect to him.

The fact that it is often left open for the player on how to (re)act. What would I do in this situation, while wearing green pants, sharp sword and slightly reeking like pig crap?
What I find interesting is that there are so many different interpetations of Dink's character. Everyone imagines him differently. I guess the main game might not have made his character clear. Not helped by the fact you can play him multiple ways. But that's not a bad thing. The one thing common in most interpetations have in common is his heroism. I also view heroism as Dink's main trait.
His intelligence and scale of heroism/scoundrelism seems to vary a lot. (Also his libido.) I always like it when he seems reasonably clever in terms of figuring things out, but is thwarted by lack of knowledge or common sense.
I also rather like how each author has a different interpretation of Dink, emphasizing or minimizing the traits he can display in the OG. I know that my own interpretation leaned a lot more into him being a chaotic (but still mostly heroic) wiseass than he was before. In the content that Seth put out (Mystery Island and the Search for Milli Vanilli), Dink could do and say some pretty heinous stuff, so it leads to a pretty broad range of what you can do with him and still feel at least vaguely like the same character.
Ages ago, those aspects of him made me wonder what it would be like to play dmod where you went around as a villain, ruining peoples lives (and often ending them) for your own gain. I actually mapped out the first area, wrote a number of scripts and dialogs before both life got in the way and the planned storyline got more dark and nihilistic than I was comfortable putting into a videogame at the time.
