Based on what I read in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guards!_Guards!, I'd say you can make a comparison, but not a complete one. Dink is honest, straightforward and idealistic like Carrot. However, Dink's enthusiasm in the original game never strikes a chord with the guards within the game.

however, they are very literal.

We must know!

I've been working on a thing.
And my ideas have made somebody's brain hurt, I think.

Well tell us more about your project, please!
But don't tell us about the parts that might hurt our brains.

So here is a question for you all.
Are there enough people out there that want another SlipDink dmod for me to go to the effort of making one?
I have some ideas for my next one and I have been keeping notes, collecting up some files and experimenting with some DinkC functions that I had not been able to get to work before so I can try a new "special effect" that probably has been done rarely in DinkC, if at all. I'm developing a new storyline and a set of (what I assume) are, at least in part, a set of unique "subquests".
I enjoy doing all of this, but I know that this effort will be a long term one, taking many months to come to fruition. Is there an audience out there that is waiting, even now?

The rarely or maybe never done special effect has me intrigued. I enjoy seeing new ways to use dinkc functions that has not been done before.
Without giving away the special effect, can I ask which function it is you've achieved it with?

Well, I'll tell you about it in the private message section.

So, I'm no longer waiting to hear from my fanbase. :-}
I will continue to make my next dmod, albeit at a rather slow pace at present. I continue to experiment in DinkC and am expanding my notes on the story. Things are moving forward.
(The imagined crowd of fans goes wild.)
But first I think I'll fix some things up in "All that Glitters.".

actually, the book was published one year before the game...
Try this challenge
take your eyes to the discover section, to the right, and a scroll up.
no, not your cursor, resist the temptation.
now, guess the name of the D-Mod, just by looking at the screenshot.
if you get 15 correct guesses in a row, report back to me.

Fifteen seems a bit too much, especially to guess correctly in a row without making a mistake.
I did it, i thought it wouldn't be that hard
lower it to ten if you want

I... I got 4. And I cheated, because I knew the dmods but couldn't remember the titles. Mog Dmod = Where's Likko, War Dink = Dinkcraft, and some old piece of crap by Skull = Honor of the Cast: Slimes. CLOSE ENOUGH. (also sorry Skull ) And Bug Mania literally had the dmod's name on it. Then I broke my streak because I failed to recognize my own goddarn dmod.
Lol
You can retry though

I couldn't get more than 3 in a row at most after 5-10 minutes, guessed more than that correctly though.
That's good
good
practice my disiples
if you can't do this you need to play more D-Dmods

That D-Mod re-invented the "walking through three screens of slimes to reach the end" -genre.
