I prepared a rating for FreeDink (e.g. so parents can block mature games), using this tool:
hughsie.github.io/oars/generate.html

Here's my take:
Category: Game/AdventureGame/RolePlaying/ActionGame

violence-fantasy: moderate
violence-bloodshed: mild
violence-desecration: mild
drugs-alcohol: mild
sex-themes: mild
language-profanity: mild
language-humor: moderate

Looking back, the original game is surprisingly clean, there's basically no swear words, no drinking alcohol, only bloodshed and a couple innuendos.
The game has that impudent / non-mainstream tone, but is quite careful not going overboard.

Maybe I'm too jaded thought, or just forgot - what do you think?

2nd generation. No easy way to be free.
Do you think there is any reason to note that some of the dmods on the DN are, at times, a bit vulgar and even a bit erotic?

How many parents in this era of fortnite and pubg do you think are going to play dink and check if its ratings fall in line ? if gta games get a pass from this parents , i think dink will have no problems.

On the other hand beuc cant you release your free dink version on steam ?

Doesn't freedink require dink files? wouldn't it be weird to tell people to download the game from some obscure website first before downloading freedink from steam?

@SlipDink
I couldn't find any way to talk about game add-ons in this rating system.
OTHO the only integration with D-Mods is to run DFArc3 and click on the DN link - and we do warn about mature content here.
Good enough?

@liquid141
This kind of rating can be required by distros, and some parents care (especially for young / 7-10yo children I think), so why not.
I don't particularly have the time and money to put FreeDink on steam right now but maybe.

I disagree.
I don't really think that sort of thing is necessary. Especially today.
And I always find funny what people consider as an adult content. Mass shootouts and killing is fine, but a sex scene? Nooooo. It's retarded when you think about it really.

I agree some people have weird strong reactions to sexuality while overlooking violence, and vice-versa (hence our Flower Blood? ).
Here though this allows people to evaluate the game for their children or for themselves, using different categories including violence and sex, but also if it requests money in-game or if it deals with sensitive topics (religion, prostitution...).

The only concern I have with this kind of rating is when you answer cautiously and suddenly things like google play compute a PG13 rating out of nowhere.
You end up having to tone it down to get a more sensible rating.

In this case the main goal seems to compute age ratings depending on local country / regulations.

It's becoming mandatory at various places anyway, not much we can do about it.

I thought you were adding these ratings to release the game for download on the linux os stores , hence the steam release question. instead of making it complex i think you should just throw in the ESRB ratings ? http://www.esrb.org/ratings/

The game is already included in numerous distros, this is optional but it may be required in the future - not for inclusion in the distro, but for being displayed in the more user-friendly "app centers".

You've got a valid point about ESRB, I believe they did this rating so they don't get trademark issues and so they can apply it to more than games.
