Check it out and download it at Seth's blog. It appears to have modding capabilities as well with redink releasing one of his own at one point.

The adventure is the usual somewhat disturbing RTSoft fare with topics such as abortion, intravenous drug use, and domestic violence included for whatever reason. I recommend everyone here plays it if they haven't already.

While I am fairly certain that the effort to "JUST COPY AND PASTE THIS SITE'S LAYOUT, CHANGE THE COLOURS AND THE LOGO, AND HAVE A LAWNMODS SECTION." is greater than you might think, the basic idea may be useful.

Certainly it seems that some form of an implementation of that idea may be helpful to keeping the DN (or at least something like it) alive, though I'm not certain of that.

Is there much of a following for the "TEENAGE LAWNMOWER" game?

I've played it fully yesterday and can say without a doubt I'd never pay for this
It's good as a free game and that's that. I'd rather pay for Dink Smallwood.

Also speaking of paying for Dink Smallwood, you know what'd be cool? Something never proposed by anyone else at all and that is a steam release. Workshop support, etc. I'd pay for that but hey that's just me yknow just a crazy thought lol ok bye

I wouldn't pay $20 for it these days - just like I wouldn't pay $20 for a Turok re-release, with all due apologies to Night Dive Studios - but it was a fun little indie diversion back when "indie" had a little more weight and a lot more obscurity, in a landscape predating Braid, Steam, and so many other paradigm shifts.

That's what the sales are for, then again i'd buy the Turok remaster considering that it has a mod support, fixes some of the annoying stuff, adds both N64 and PC soundtrack and finally it supports Windows, Mac and Linux.

I downloaded it and installed it into my WINE directory recently and can say that while it is mildly amusing, it somehow just does not seem to appeal to me as a way to spend idle time.

The 3d graphics are mildly impressive, but the game actions seem rather mundane and uninteresting somehow. I cannot say that the idea of trying to avoid running over rodents with a lawnmower ever ranked high on my wishlist, and making sure you mow a lawn in a timely manner seems achingly dull as a pastime.

Though it seems to me that it is an impressive piece of programming in it's own right, I cannot say that I'm likely to retry it again soon or that I will not uninstall it soon.

For me, maybe it is just that pretending to be a medieval hero, no matter how bumbling or incompetent that hero is or what kind of enemies he faces, is inherently more fun than pretending to be someone with a dead end job in a dystopian suburban wasteland. But, maybe I just like Dink Smallwood too much to make a fair comparison.

@GOKUSSJ6: If I'm paying that much for a port of a game from the mid 90's, it's gotta have a little more added value than that. It seems like a more sensible price point for the two games combined rather than the first by itself.

How appropriate that you mention sales though - discounts are likely part of why it was marked way the hell up to begin with. Discounts are so widespread and frequent with digital storefronts these days, people base a game's worth and "must-buy" value on a percentage markdown rather than actual price, and it makes more sense for the developer to sell high from the get-go so that the lowest low isn't so low after all.

Played the game and was not impressed , probably due to the genre but meh not sure if this engine is good enough to port dink to it either. Either way making something free is always nice.

@Tal turok was almost more than 50% off in the recent sale certainly worth the price at that discount.

It doesn't have great replay value once you've finished it on normal. I do recommend getting through to the end just to see the final map. Have any of you managed to finish it on master difficulty at all? I find it near impossible to meet the income targets.

Same. I played the demo a while back and found it pretty interesting. I also did some digging and managed to find some more details about the IGF awards that Seth went to for it

A lot of the devs of the other titles appear to have gone bust, except for some furry game.

Well, at least it's not a dmod that is waiting to be posted. It's just a tool that might help others write dmods.
