COTPATD - Book Proof Printed (With Photos)
Instead of adding a reply to the other topic, I thought this deserved a new post. Just to recap: I've been editing and formatting the COTPATD series of forum posts into book form.
So, a couple weeks ago, I 'finished' round two of editing. At this point, I had probably spent a good hundred hours into the editing process, and I realized I had no idea if this was actually going to work. What if the screenshots are unrecognizable? What if I used margins that were too small, such that it is impossible to read text that is near the spine of the book, and I need to re-format the entire book again?
So, I decided to take what I had, and submit the draft and print off a 'proof'. I went with Createspace, as I didn't have the appropriate tool (InDesign) to create a manuscript for IngramSpark. Createspace has a limit of 480 pages, so I took years 1998-2004 (448 pages total), and about $35 and two weeks later, I have a physical copy.
It looks AWESOME.
This cover is not final; I threw together a photo mosaic of Tim with D-Mod screenshots. The final will probably be different.
It you look closely, you can see the title screen of such classics as Pokemon: Bible Version.
The screenshots are gorgeous. Text is readable.
Forum screenshots are a little bit pixelated, but look good.
I asked Simon to write a few words, which is why he popped back up the other day.
Still more to do, but I think this might really happen.

Looks goodly. Also tangible; can't wait to have this on my bookshelf. The title screen is kind of weird, so I'm glad that's probably not final.
This forum needs a thumbnail tag. So it'll resize bigger pictures if it's too big. Other than that, well....Most likely ma mods are in the book now.
they will in the next one. it will specifically be titled after you, too.
If you refresh, the images should be limited to the width of the page post; I updated the CSS, which your browser likely won't get automatically.
what the hell, how did that fix it?
Ctrl-F5 does a force refresh.
... I also 'cheated' and just updated every page to add the css max-width rule in the html itself, so it uses it even if it has a cached version of the css it will still apply.

but i've refreshed before.
let's see if this goes off the page:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
yay

It's looking real good. (Y)
It's an old MSN short for yes or thumbs up. (y) make it an emoticon Dan!
Honestly I love that cover, and how it's made with screenshots. It's all looking really good!
If we wanted all the way to the end, how many books would it take?
I dunno why it took me weeks to see this thread but DAMN I'D BUY THE SHIT OUTTA THAT BOOK. Seriously, I'd do anything in my power to buy that book from USA(or where it is being made) all the way to Romania
Also if it took you a whole book only for 1998-2004, does that mean there will be 3 more books for 2005-2008, 2009-2013 and 2014-2015?

one of the volumes is going to be smaller. we must remedy that by having someone write up more shit where tim left off.
I was also thinking the same, maybe someone should continue his work, also this being the hipster times maybe someone should do the lets play videos of all the dmods along with commentary..
i am hoping 2017 to be something new for the dink series sigh if only seth would jump in

thats seriously awesome Dan well done you! Love the way its laid out and think the addition of community comments is such a great idea whose a smart cookie (ps i have indesign if u need anything done )
I also dont believe anyone else should take over Tims work - it was Tim's and to do so would cheapen what he has accomplished.
Me want!!

Looks fantastic. If I had the money I'd love to get myself a copy.
Thank you for all the hard work on this Dan.

Beautiful compendium, truly worth having as a member of this community. Thank you for putting in the hard work, Dan!
Sorry; this project has been on hold for the past couple months, but I hope to resume in earnest very soon.
I have permission to continue this project from Tim's parents (I am very grateful for their support), and I will start collecting other information to put into the book (like I did with Simon Klaebe).

No problem! We all have real lives that demand our attention too. Well, at least most of do.
Just keep us informed of progress as you make it.

Does Redink actually have a job right now or is he retired from all the millions he made? I know he could have free time, but this definitely seems like it would take a lot of it.
hehe you know that book is good when seth himself is here giving it a thumbsup, i have the pdf on my mobile still and hours fly by reading it.
