A Problem With Company of Heroes game of the year edition.
Okay I recently purchased Company of Heroes game of the year edition (used), non steam version. During installation I only get as far as the product key part. I enter the key on the back of the manual and then it says that the key is invalid. I entered it in ten different ways carefully and still get the same result. I went online for a new key. But all the ones I used didnt work either. Does someone know a solution to this problem? I really want to play this game.
Who/Where/When did you buy it from?
me. i put a fake code in there. the real code is
penis-poopy-penis-poopoo
penis-poopy-penis-poopoo
Should have bought the recent Humble Bundle instead.
Talk to customer support?
I got the game off amazon.
there's the issue.

yeah actually the humble bundle is still going with the first game in the $1 tier.
that's probably a whole dollar more what it's actually worth, though, right?
buying games is 4 puzziez my friend.
Seriously though. If the game doesn't work, then just pirate it. What's the big deal? It ain't your fault. It's like playing the game you bought, but you're just installing it from another source
I sometimes pirate games just because I'm too lazy to get my ass off my chair and go get the game disc and put it in the PC.
I could solve it if I had the game myself, but eh

It probably doesn't work because the original owner already used that product key.
People are dicks for reselling games that require activation. Either that, or too stupid to realize the CD is practically useless after the key has been used.

the real dicks are the ones making games that require a 2000 character activation code to work even though you DUCKING BOUGHT IT

I thought that was just for Steam games.
The one I got doesn't require for you to be online or to have a steam account.
I browsed around some more online and realized that people who even bought brand new ones at the store ran into the same problem.
This sucks.

He said it's non steam version. Only steam has "one use keys". For retail games you can use whatever key you want, how many times you want

I think it's stupid that steam games have one use keys. I mean, what if something happens to your account or something you know.
It's just plain stupid.

It's better for them if you lose your password, because it's your fault, than for them to go bankrupt. And you can't blame them for that.
If the keys could be used anytime by anyone you could just use a key, then share it with someone else, so it's certainly anything BUT stupid.

I found out the hard way about steam keys. One time I got warhammer 40k dawn of war 2 (steam version) and may the rotten discovery that the key was already used. Now that game is just sitting on the shelf gathering dust.

yeah, you're right. and what happens if a burglar shows up and takes all your games? man, you bought them. you should be able to keep them.

When burglars break into a place they go for the valuables.
games are overpriced as piss and people get away with even more absurd prices on ebay. a burglar who knows this will go for the games if they see some.

I also got the CoH GOTY edition used (non-steam) and the product key is actually on a separate piece of paper stapled to the inside back cover of the manual. Also on this separate piece of paper it states "use this key, not the one on the back of the manual". I think they just reused the same CoH manuals and tacked on the product key specific to the GOTY edition rather than printing out new manuals. If yours didn't come with a stapled piece of paper with the product key to the back of the manual, then you're probably out of luck. The product key on the back of the manual should work on a regular CoH disc though, if that helps
