Yep the next gen consoles looks quite bleak espically the Xbox One due to DRM and game restriction and online connect
Ps4 looks a little bit better but there might be be something similar to that and I hate the DualShock controller its too small and brittle and not robust enough.
My favoutite controllers where the original Xbox and N64 controllers they where built like a truck very strong and robust.

PC has upcoming exclusives thing like Rome 2, Company of heroes 2, Legacy of the void, ect.

Also people are saying the Last of us the greatest game of all time Ive played it when I went to JB it had on display so you could play the game for a little while and it was mediocre it was too cutscene based forgettable characters and bland level design like use ladders 15 billion times.
The game defintly dosent deserve a 10.

We already had the bash Xbox One/E3 thread....that I made. Let's not do it again.

To summarize my points from that thread: The Xbox One isn't terrible, Microsoft is just being stupid. The PS4 is superior.

As for PC vs. consoles, PC is a lot more expensive to get into the great games. A good PC is 2-3 time more expensive than a PS4 will be. And for that, I will forever be a console gamer. And I grew up playing on a PC. I just can't afford what it would cost to get a PC that can play all those games I love. Plus, I already own those games on consoles, so what's the point of buying them again?

I have mostly abandoned PC gaming, and I haven't looked back. PS4 4 lyfe!

For some reason I lol'd at Punisher's post. It does cover up pretty much everything that's wrong with XBox One. But I doubt the PC, at least by itself, is gonna destroy gaming consoles. Their goal this entire time has been to create a hybrid between between TV, PC and gaming consoles. Not gonna take many years anymore, for that goal to come to fruition.

That's mot usually true the PS3 costed $1000 when it first came out and the 360 $650

PC's are more powerful and offer more different experiences than consoles can.

But they aren't as user friendly and aren't (typically) going to be hooked up to a 40" tv in front of the sofa, and therefore will not destroy next-gen consoles.

I don't know which is worse: Their original plans, or them kittying out of their original plans.

From what I understand on what Microsoft announced today, the games won't be required to be installed on the hard drive anymore. And they won't restrict used games anymore.

They also got rid of the always online thing and 24 hour check in.

At least they listened to their customers, which was a good move.

No. I believe how they're handling used games is how they handle it with the 360. Unrestricted in any way. I don't think the developers will be able to restrict it in any way.

In my my onpion the Xbox brand atleast until now have always been better then The PlayStation brand I seriously hope they don't ever even think about putting any sort of DRM on the next gen console other PC all the way.

Xbox is indeed a good brand, but I honestly no longer believe that it's better than Playstation. BTW I've never owned a Playstation console before. Sony just seems to do things so much better. PSN > Xbox Live in most ways. Free games are great. But Microsoft is doing other things that makes the PS just look even better. Even though they went back on their DRM and used games stuff, they're still shunning Indie games, which PS will have tons of.

I can't explain fully why the PS3 > 360 because I've never owned the PS3, I just go off of my friend's experience with both consoles, and my own experience with the 360. Sony won me over

It just suddenly jumped out to my eyes from the depths of the Internet, and people went nuts over how good it was. From what I've seen, XBox has never even had that good of a game library. Only good games were those which were also available for PlayStation. Sure, PS3 sucked balls for the whole time it existed. Only game I eagerly expected for it was Red Dead Redemption. But PSX & PS2 had some of the best games ever. Especially the ones developed by Naughty Dog, OI, Insomniac and Rockstar. Even Sucker Punch made some good games for those two.

I love when I go to bed I miss out on a good debate. I need to throw in my two cents about a couple things.

Halo was shoot. Revolutionary? God no. You wanna know the real revolutionary FPS games? Doom 1 & 2. HALF LIFE 1. Those games were absolutely amazing. Halo to me is nothing more than a generic FPS game with crappy sci-fi elements. (And I've played both Halo 3 and the re-mastered Halo 1 for 360) The only credit I will give to Halo, is for being the first major FPS game ever on a console. But Halo is one of the most overrated franchises I've ever seen, second only to Call of Duty. Oh my god it doesn't get more generic than CoD. Every game is the exact same, just with prettier graphics. I refuse to ever touch a CoD game again.

The Fable series is amazing, some of the better games I own on my 360. Own 2 and 3, and look forward to seeing the re-master of 1 coming out.

Playstation is overall more successful than the Xbox, partly because the Xbox just fails in the Japanese market, which hurts the sales quite a bit. Xbox only succeeds because it appeals more to the American gamer. With its generic shooters. I was reading up on console stuff yesterday, the PS2 sold more consoles than ANYTHING ever did. 150 million units or something like that. Microsoft isn't even close. Never will be.

Crash Bandicoot was amazing. It was a rip-off of Mario, but to me it was just better, because it was 3D. TBH I never really cared for Mario, I'm a hardcore Sonic fan.

While I've never played any games by Naughty Dog, I've heard nothing but praise for the Uncharted series, and The Last of Us. Rockstar's only good franchise IMO is GTA. Which is why they rip themselves off with Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire. 2K has Borderlands, and that's about it. I think Valve and id make some of the best games, Rage is amazing, and lately I've been loving Crytek. Crysis is a great trilogy.

You're the one putting words into my mouth. I never said I thought the PS controller looked badass, yet you claimed I did. You are also only talking about the looks of the controller, making it extremely clear you only care about its outside appearance. If this isn't the case, as you claim, then why the hell do you keep talking about its looks and design?

Looks of a controller are unimportant. It's just how unwieldy it is. Large controllers are just awkward. Take the Dreamcast controller for instance. (If you've ever even held a DC controller lol) The DualShock has something right, which is why its design hasn't changed much since the PS1 came out in 1995. Why it's still the same basic controller 18 years later with the PS4. Besides the shiny new touch pad which I really don't get tbh.

The console doesn't matter as long as you like a game.

The console DOES matter if the console is required to be online, won't let you play the game on a console at a friends house or anywhere else, never let you borrow/lend the game, or sell your game back EVER, watches you 24/7, makes you sacrifice a virgin...oh wait.

Sarcasm. Steam IS a giant DRM, one that spies not only on what games you play, but also what you do in them, that requires you to register games online, and although you can (after registering once) play games in offline mode, the offline mode sometimes fails so that you have to log onto the steam network periodically anyway.

Unfortunatelly, most people really don't seem to mind. This generation of consoles would have gotten away with hideous DRM too, if Sony had just followed suit. On that matter, no need to praise Sony too much; it's a brilliant marketing move on their part, they didn't leave DRM out because they're just so much more noble and moral.

Also, something that I think hasn't been mentioned about DRM yet... DRM is a symptom, not a cause: Console piratism is, as far as I know, a relatively small problem currently, but companies are rightly afraid that it will grow bigger. On PCs, of course, piratism is rampant.

So, while I hate and boycott DRM, hating the companies for implementing it as money-grubbing, immoral corporate donkeys is incredibly hypocritical. It's your own ducking fault, stop pirating games.

Video game piracy is gonna save the gaming industry one day. No more crappy games with good graphics and nothing else. Games will again actually be developed by people who like to create games. Not people who do it for money.

We should shift this into being about the games we're excited for. Personally I'm really looking forward to Watch_Dogs. Though I have a lingering interest in Saints Row IV after my friend let me borrow the second and third one. I find it hilarious and strange how they've moved from a game about gangsters taking back control of their city, to said gangsters become rulers of the world having to defend it from an alien invasion. So, that looks rather interesting to me. I'm not sure what to think of Mad Max yet. Also, Beyond Two Souls looks really cool in terms of cinematic experience, but I'm not sure what to think of it besides that.

Recently I borrowed a bunch of games from my friend. Left Four Dead, Deadrising 2, Resident Evil 5, Saints Row II, Saints Row III, Mafia II, Fable II, and Alan Wake. Oh, and my brother borrowed Far Cry 3 from one of his friends and I've been playing that like mad. Deadrising 2 was fun until I realized everything was timed and then I hated it. Left Four Dead seems like it's most fun when playing with other people. Saints Row II was rather boring, though the third one is pretty rad. Mafia II is either really fun, or really annoying. I've already beaten Fable II before, and I own the third so I was just playing it for nostalgic purposes. I beat Alan Wake, and I even got The Signal DLC for free and beat that. That game is hard. Also frightening. Though it's really good. Far Cry 3 is just awesome.

Watch Dogs was one of the games that grabbed my attention the most at E3. It looked like a Grand Theft Auto type game, but focusing around advanced hacking tech and being sneaky, which just seemed very cool to me. And the concept of the multiplayer was fascinating, you "hack" into another players game and try to get them killed before they know you're there and they kill you. Definitely a game I want to try.

Thief looks incredible, a FPS stealth game. Which is how I play my Skyrim

Destiny: MMOFPS Borderlands-type sci-fi, it looks really cool.

I'm really excited for the next gen games. (My list of games of interest is at nearly 20 titles.) I really can't wait until November.

As for current gen games I've played lately, I only really played some Fable 3, since it became free on Xbox Live. Felt like replaying it. Still love it, still kinda bored of it lol. And I still need to play more Dragon Age so I can return it to my friend someday.
