rankings abuse

Hey, I was just reading a post about ranking board activity and the subject came up about ranking abuse where people release files just to get points and increase their rank. Well, it may be a moot point, but what if the scoring would guard against that where a file that scores below say 5.0 (or whatever score) would be negative points. That way, people who released crappy files just to get points would actually hurt themselves.

3 gets no points, under 3 gets negative points. at the bottom of the rankings page there is a magic formula or something.

Ah, I saw the formula, but I guess I didn't understand that part. Perhaps the penalty for crappy files should be larger (more points off), but then again, I have been absent from the community for awhile, so maybe this is all old news.
