Wasn't this about tyrants?
Why is the KKK on there?
Or even Osama Bin Laden. He wasn't a tyrant at all. He was just the planner behind the 9/11 attack. He wasn't even the top of the food chain.

Pretty much every tyrant was religious, or at least pretended they were, because without religion you can't really get people to blindly follow every one of your orders without condemning them to hell. This is only one of the many reasons I dislike religion. You can pretty much brainwash them into marching to take over another country for fun and call it a crusade.
Tyrants may wear a religious guise, but I guarantee that no tyrant was ever a true Christian, nor has true Christianity made a man a tyrant.
No tyrant was ever a true Muslim, nor did Islam make anyone a tyrant. Islam encourages peace.
Oh and an atiest tyrant? Predator
Oh and an atiest tyrant? Predator
Speaking of tyrants, Predator, are you the guy who was posting on the forum as hitler a while back? (I say, "speaking of tyrants" only because the real Hitler was a tyrant. Like my little play on words there? )
Yeah I think tal(or was it sparrowhawk?) ip-checked them, they where the same.

Well, most of the world's great artists, philosophers, thinkers, scientists and inventors were religious. What does that tell you about the noble atheist?

How exactly is Karl Marx a tyrant? He was never in a position of power...
Also, it's incredibly ironic that you list Galileo and Copernicus there, considering their work really pissed off the church and completely went against its teachings at the time.
Allow me to post some history:
By 1616 the attacks on the ideas of Copernicus had reached a head, and Galileo went to Rome to try to persuade the Catholic Church authorities not to ban Copernicus' ideas. In the end, Cardinal Bellarmine, acting on directives from the Inquisition, delivered him an order not to "hold or defend" the idea that the Earth moves and the Sun stands still at the centre.
With the loss of many of his defenders in Rome because of Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, Galileo was ordered to stand trial on suspicion of heresy in 1633. The sentence of the Inquisition was in three essential parts:
Galileo was found "vehemently suspect of heresy", namely of having held the opinions that the Sun lies motionless at the centre of the universe, that the Earth is not at its centre and moves, and that one may hold and defend an opinion as probable after it has been declared contrary to Holy Scripture. He was required to "abjure, curse and detest" those opinions.[50]
He was sentenced to formal imprisonment at the pleasure of the Inquisition.[51] On the following day this was commuted to house arrest, which he remained under for the rest of his life.
His offending Dialogue was banned; and in an action not announced at the trial, publication of any of his works was forbidden, including any he might write in the future.

Great, dinkulum.
@Cmerepaul: I knew that the question about Karl Marx would arise - A trifling matter really: He was not a tyrant, no. However, the list is concise and to the point.
In regards to how incredibly ironed-out you are, you are completely evading the point, which is that the majority of the world's great people were religious. The fact is Galileo and Copernicus were both Catholic, so your' comment holds relevence like a seive holds water.

Tal is the most horrifying dictator of them all.
"The fact is Galileo and Copernicus were both Catholic, so your' comment holds relevence like a seive holds water."
It's incredibly relevant because it proves how evil the Catholic Church is.
"the point, which is that the majority of the world's great people were religious."
Since the majority of the world's people period are religious, it's kind of a silly point to make.
Actually the original point of this thread is silly too.

Which church? I assume you mean Catholic? <oops didnt read ^ last post, lol> - I also don't believe "The church" has it right either, it goes against the bible in so many respects, fluffing up their own importance throughout history. 'The Church' and those struggling for power within that church, has padded its own nest and egos and ambitions since its inception and done way more damage than good both to the world and to its followers.

I would think that if you were British you would at least pay your language the respect of spelling it properly, not to mention punctuation and grammar.

This... If one were to separate the religious from those who simply belong to a religion, though, it would make for a different story.
Our friend Mussolini is a glaring example.

Predator, could you please explain why Dink Doodler sucks rather than saying he's wrong and stupid and full of crap?
Because I don't. I is the most awesome guy online right now.
By the way, the next person who says DinkDoodlar instead of DinkDoodler will find themselves tied to a chair with 20 bolt throwers pointing at their ass.
I find Preed Tar's racism sickening. He thinks that just because he's white he's better than any of us. I wouldn't be surprised if you were a 7 year old black kid trying to pretend he's white and that makes him better than us. Colour discrimination is terrible and disgusting.
By the way, BRIT, you should get over the fact that America saved your butt in World War 2 and stop flaming them. And please respect your language and write properly.

I know all about history, you are just deluded enough to think you're the best.
In World War 2 you Brits didn't have any weapons or planes. You were ducked in Africa and Greece and evacuated your soldiers and only won when America took pity on you and decided to teach your soldiers how to tie their shoelaces.

By the way, I already mentioned that Preddy Krueger was an athiest tyrant.
I think we can safely conclude that it is not organised religion or atheism that makes a man a tyrant. Bitterness, selfishness and hatred are the real enemies.
In regards to winning a few battles - the winner is he who takes the war, not he who takes a single battle. See Hannibal of Carthage for raw evidence of this.
Cmerepaul, you clearly have your' head wrapped around this whole thing - good - I am appreciatively nonchalant about your' presence and opinions.
Hopefully, Predator, my list will put delusions about the negative impact of religion into perspective. Religion opens as many doors as it closes, metaphorically speaking.
