How do you do it?
So, when you want to make a new D-mod, how are you get things started? First make a map, or first a story, or first graphics, or first scripting... or do you just start out with a vague idea, get going and see where it'll end?

Just curious how yall do it... :)

I'm into the last thing: just an idea and then get going...

Re: How do you do it?
Come up with a rough idea of the story and start work...

But that IS NOT a good way to do it (for a large d-mod anyway) that's probably why Crosslink isn't finished yet. Too often I come to a point and think, "What now?" Then I have to stop work, think about what to fill in that area/time and maybe even go back and change somehting to make it work.

mm, I do it this way:

1. Think, get at least 2 ideas

2. Grab a piece of paper and make the map

3. Make a small piece of the map

4. Make some scripts

5. Look if the scripts works

6. Make another piece of the map

7. More scripting

8. Add new graphics

9. Give the new graphics a script

10. Place them on the map

11. If they work, quit and delete them and use them as a boss or something

MAIN:

12. Make another piece of the map

13. Script a little bit :)

GOTO MAIN;

1: think..

2: think...

3: draw a buttload of graphics..

4: think..

5: start composing music..

6: think..

7: make scripts and finish the game.. kej?

Re: How do you do it?
I mucked around with the editor for a while, then used the original graphics for a lot of ideas. Like hey! the ferryman of styx! hmm.....

Then map a few screens, paste a few sprites, and figure out how to make them act and re-act. Problem with my approach?, a dmod may never be totally finished.........

Re: How do you do it?
First irelease a Dmod, (like baywatch) then read rewiws and create a normal DMOD. Thats it. :)
