It strikes me as funny everytime again

Have you noticed that posts with no text are often opened anyway? It makes me laugh when I see a no text post has been looked at 15 times or more, lol.

I often click on them to get rid of that pesky 'new' image.

Why not change the code so nt messages have no NEW image?
