: : : : : : "640X480 8 bit not supported."
: : Dink runs in 640x480 8 bit. Therefore, it isn't complaining about your current resolution/color range, but the fact that it can't run Dink because 640x480 8 bit mode probably isn't supported in your Win98 vmware thingy.
: : (Going out on a VERY thin limb): As far as I know, DirectX doesn't work in linux at all, even using funky emulators. And Dink was compiled using DirectX 5 or 6, so... I don't think it would work at all. However, I know nothing about linux (I will dedicate a partition to it in the fall though, when I have broadband to download a version), and the above is something I remember reading off of slashdot.org, and may possibly be a manufactured memory.
: yeah, id agree if i was us9ng wine or something, but the coolness o vmware is that its TOTAL emulation. windows cant tell that its running under another OS. i can play Baldurs Gate 2 fine, and many other games, so i dunno...hmmmm...
Just for fun, try running it with the -window option. It will run funny, if at all.
