4 Threads, 58 Messages Deleted
A whopping four threads, and all messages replied to them have been deleted:

hahaaaa!!!! funny, started by Tullisti

Dink Network Grudge Match, started by dinkaholic

I just can't beleive you lot..., started by imacrazyguy

Have it out with me now!, started by SabreTrout

The deleting of these threads was seconded by WC, just to ensure my power is not absolute.

I'm gone one day thanks to my silly ISP going haywire, and all heck breaks loose.  Grand.

Let me stand on my nifty portable soap-box for a moment...

I hate you all equally.  In no particular order, I hate WC, I hate Tal, I hate imacrazyguy, I hate Tullisti, I hate SabreTrout, I hate DethLord, I hate Beuc, I hate Kyle, I hate Dukie, I hate dinkaholic, I hate SimonK, I hate Eldron, I hate Striker, I hate bin, I hate theprophet, and I hate everyone else I can't possible list in this message (well, I could make a program to list them out in a formatted way so I only had to copy/paste, but that is besides the point).

Of course, I'm kidding (or am I ;)).  But it seems people on this board take things too seriously.  A fellow Dink Network staff member told me the other day that a popular Dinker was calling me bad names and such.  And I laughed it off, and I suggest the same to each and everyone of you.

And please don't post of arguments in chats/e-mails that you've had with other Dinkers (unless it is constructive, as some of Discussion Eleven was).  If someone else is bugging you over ICQ or e-mail, just block them.  Don't bring it on the board.  If there are inappropriate messages, use the Complaint box.  I should have them on the Board pages soon.

There have also been a few messages to the point of, "If the Dink Community doesn't support me, I'm leaving!" or some such nonsense.  Good, leave.  Let the other person win.  Or you could stay and just ignore the other person, and still have fun playing a good game.  Imagine that...

The Dink Community is not a popularity contest.  Some people will hate you no matter what you do.  I'm sure (or at least I'm hoping) that some Dinkers hate my guts.  I try to make things the best they can be for the majority of people, but I'm bound to make things unpleasent for a few (like Elmer, still the only person to send me hate mail).  And heck, even Elmer turned around after I responded to him in a non-flaming way.

And so, I happily jump off this trippy soap-box... ah crap, I tripped.
Re: 4 Threads, 58 Messages Deleted
While i agree that it was getting out of hand, i also think that ou CANT just gloss over this. there IS a problem with some (or all) of this community.

I have been insulted one toto many times to just shrug it off again.something must be done. Im at work right now, so i shouldn't be writing this, but ill reply later, (like 5 hours away).

also, can someoen tel me hwo my post endeed?? i wen to bed after i posted last night.

Trolls are a fact of life.  If it happens on the board, then fill out a complaint box.  If enough complaints come in about a specific user, then we'll have to start blocking that user from posting messages and such.  If it happens via e-mail or instant messenger or whatever, it isn't The Dink Network's problem, unfortunatly.  Almost all instant messengers and e-mail programs have blocking tools; use them.

As for how your thread ended... I really don't remember.  It doesn't really matter, does it?
My suggestion

This is my suggestion: hear me out, dont delete me.

OK. i think, (IMHO), that we need a set of DN....guidelines?? code of conducts?? whatever you call them. ALL members of the DN community should have to aggree with them. simple things like "A agree not to purposfully insult, insinuate or abuse other members", and "i will try my best to work alongside other members of the DN community". Just to have these written somewhere would be helpfull.

We should also have these rules apply not only on the board and news posts, but in emails an IM's between community members. that way, there is a level of consistency throughout the community. people cant just insult others off the board. When i referr to the DN community, i mean the people, NOT the website, although the website is a valuable part of the community.

Maybe these guidelines should be drawn up be the dink community. EVERYONE should read them, and EVERYONE should have a chance to object, offer suggestions etc. etc. etc. once a reasonable plan has been made, they should be posted onlne, and new members asked to agree with them before they sign up for an account. (remember, the can still post without an account). The charter should also include standard punishments to offenders, liek a warning, tempory posting revokation (is that a word?), and finaly banishment?? (in the WORST case). as far as i am concerned, NO ONE HERE has deserved to be banished. many warned, a few not allowed to post for a week.

I also think that if such a system were in place, people wouldn't need to be punished. the fact that the system was there in the first place would be guidance enough.

and yes, i now expect a whole heap of posts saying "your system sucks", etc. etc,. etc. BUT, what have we got to lose?? more dinkers, and people of this community. what can we gain?? peace an the chance to start over, without stupid arguments all the time.

--

as for my part in the arguments, i have llready apologised (although it was deleted), and i would appreciate the same in return. i wont insist, because that will lead to more, which i dont want. I dont HATE, anyone here. you are all good ppl, although i have never met most of you. If you decide to use my suggestion, i would be proud to be part of this community. if not, there is not much left for me here. (im not threatening to "do this or else ill leave", that would be stupid. i know that if i leave no one will miss me, im simply stating what my mind is,, and how im likely to react).

thats my $0.02 worth. please think it over. im not aiming for a facist regeime, not a liberal left wing orgy, but somewhere where ppl can work together, without arguing or abusing.

thanks.
Re: My suggestion
Nah.  Most people know right from wrong... and those that continue to do wrong will be banned and such.  I don't think we need any specific rules, we can just decide things on a case-by-case basis.
Re: My suggestion
First, we wouldn't delete you for posting a opinion, only if you do it in a destructive manner. We can not control what happens via e-mail, that is outside the dink network, and only those involved can work that out. Second, I agree we should have some guidelines for useage and registration of a account, but with these rules, we can't be really strick on them. Rules are made to be bent and broken. For example, we don't allow cussing and such here (we have a fliter against it), but if we had no filter and still didn't allow it doesn't mean we would ban you on the first offence. What if you swore, but in good taste? See, no matter what rules we have, as a community, we would have to use good judgement (which we do not use 99% of the time), and use staff members would have to use good judgement in what to censor, and who to punish (like we do now). Everyone else?

YES!!! thats the first sensable thing i've heard for a while!!

i agree with EVERYTHING you said, except, that you said "we cant controll what happens outside the DN community" (or something like that), and i think you missed my point a little. i dont want a set of rules, which everyone has to obey, or they are kicked out. that'd just start more arguing. no, what im talking about is more of a 'guidelines', e.g.- NOT 'all members must not swear, or they will be banned', but rather 'all members of the community are asked not to swear, abuse, or insult while talking to any other member of the community, wether it be on the board, IM systems, or news posts'. see?? that way, we cant control what ppl do. no one can, but instead you can shape peoples reactions to each other.

HOWEVER, the file should also give examples of wat can ahppen to repeat offenders.

please do take me seriously, and please also do act on this. it should be a community involvment project.

Very good except I don't think it will have to go that far. All it took to end ALL the arguing around here was for Redink1 to post this thread and Bam! not another offensive comment from anyone to anyone about anyone. :)

Alright!!!! I made the hate list. Uhhhhh that is a good thing right? :)

And Redink1, you can be a spoilsport at times you know that? :p I mean I was getting some pretty good chuckles around here lately. Although I have to admit it kept me from playing dmods, writing reviews and walkthroughs and such. Oh well, fun while it lasted. :)

But having a set of simple guidelines for the site is not a bad idea. It will at least encourage respect from us all. And an offensive member could be subject to getting *beeped* by other members of the community. ( If anyone has ever read IT by Stephen King you will know where I got the term *beep* from and how I suggest it be used. )

Wow! It sure is a lot quieter on the board now. :)
Woo, Redink doesn't hate me! [NT]

Redink, you are a Prince among men, and everything you say it true and with good reason. I will try and stop being silly, and hope others do to.

Nobody said he was Jesus! That does not do justice to him, he is GOD!!! (Can you hear me kissing his arse?? :p )

Everybody respects Redink, while not everybody respects the other staff. May have something to do with his never resorting to flaming, or being mean in any manner.

Or maybe it's his Jedi mind powers again...
