#dinksmallwood chat info

If you would like to chat (which we chat all the damn time in there). You can either do one or two things to enter the chat. Logon though Dal NET and enter channel #dinksmallwood using their java cleint. Or you can get the Dink Smallwood PreSetup MIRC Client and log in that way. I will be on hand in the chat durning chat times, and durning the day (PST time) to handle any problems, if else, E-mail me.

It's a nice alternative, but I don't see why another chat is needed over Dethlords, which does the job fine. Well, some people have problems accessing it (like me) but if more people came to the meetings, it would be superb. Ho hum.

But 2 chats is better then 1!

Well, MIRC chat is better than that chat anyday because of it's admin features and the fact that it's not JAVA! :) Oh, and argue about the walkthroughs in the discussion!

This is why java sucks (IMHO):

The jre for linux download is 25 megs. WAY to big for ppl with dialup connections.
The development of java is done with such a tight lid, it is no longer considered open source, which means that it doesn't benefit from the faster development cycle, and security fixes etc. etc. etc.
Even the java plugin is 15 megs, still too big.
most java applets are used to either: 1.- make popup windows, which is VERY annoying, or 2.- ummm...do other annoying things.
I have yet to see a site which uses java in a way which cannot be done using free, open source alternatives. prove me wrong!!

eh? I can use both and I am running them on Windows 95, and if you know how, you can get around those annoying java popups etc. Besides with java you have purty pictures and such. >^..^<

HaHaHa you are Funny. I can't upgrade unless I have the money, besides I am using I.E. 5.5

as my browser. We all can't afford the new ones :(

Is that to say that you need to download things for the java chat to work? If so, I didn't! But 2 chats would be useful, but I hope all this proposed change in walkthrough and chat structure does not destroy Dethlords site too much! :(

You need to download the java plugin, or the JRE. if you allready have it, you are VERY lucky.

it is MUCH better to be able to connect to a stable network dedicated for chat channels, with a standalone irc client than to go to an ugly javachat with advertising and other such unhealthy things..

That may be so, but java is good enough for me, and I will continue to use it. I am on staff after all! ;)

You can kick people out in Dethlords chat as well! And i'm pretty sure you can do private chat and other stuff as well! This chat is supreme! Do not defy its magnificence! IT WILL RULE!!! ;)
