: I'm curious? What do people use as criteria to classify DMODs. The DN has time. Here's my definitions:
: A ROMP was basically just a case of one simple task, and finding the goodies/ability to do it.
: A QUEST involves more plot. Having to do a number of tasks, having a world to interact with but not on a large scale.
: An EPIC involves a big plot. Lots of characters, lots of mini-quests inside the main quest. A large map... at least the size of the original game.
: What's your thoughts?
As an adventurer in life my definations differ from everyone in the following way:
ROMP: I meet a girl for a quicky.
QUEST: I meet a girl, take her out, and spend the night with her.
EPIC: I meet a girl and spend the rest of my life have many quests with her (not to mention a few romps). :)

ROMP: to succeed in a race, competition, task etc. quickly and easily (Well, dont look at me, this is in the dictionary!! :p)
QUEST: a search or hunt, the object of one's search or goal, to search about, to roam around in search of something
EPIC: a long adventure or story, large-scale and impressive, with heroic acts, the birth and death of nations etc.
So those are the 'official' explanations. I think the time-thing is a bit misleading, since one person can do a very long time on a D-mod someone else finishes quickly: depending on how fast you understand riddles, puzzles, finding your way through mazes, noticing hints, knowing what options you have... so if you never thought of using fireball to burn a tree... well, I think you get the point.
Anyway, I agree on your definitions which seem to go along well with the ones the dictionary gave.
My definition is a little different. I donno if i ever read this anywhere or if I just made it up but:
A Romp has little or no plot. And also may not take long to finish.
A Quest has at least one task to complete and provides a a minimus of several minutes of play time.
An Epic d-mod is big, really big. And for that reason almost surely has a number of sub-goals and takes quite a while to complete.
