New DMODs in progress
Since people like to hype their dmods in progress, I decided to do it, too. :p



I'm currently working on 3 dmods.



The first one is called "The Other World". (I have released a trailer weeks ago.) It contained lots of new graphics, new midis, new tiles, and new stuffs with complicated and twisted stories. This will be an epic if finished. The problem is that I don't know if I can ever finish it before everyone lose interests in Dink.

Current status:

 100 screens finished, 40 more partially finished

 more than 410 new graphics files

 number of new scripts: 120



The second one is called "Dink Vacation". I may still change the final name of the DMOD. I am currently spending most of my Dink-time on this one. It will be a very different dmod. (Although almost all authors would say the same thing about their dmods, too.) I don't want to reveal too much about it. I want people get surprised once they start playing. The size of this dmod will be kind of small, about 150 to 200 screens. You won't see a lot of new graphics, although all new graphics will be kind of eye-opening. Those who are used to play with Ultimate cheat might get very upset. A few new stuffs originally designed for "The Other World" might be used here and go public first before release of The Other World. Brief nudity will be seen. Only briefly. ;)



I don't have name for the 3rd dmod, yet. It is NOT a Dink story. The story is very classic: How an apprentice becomes the greatest wizard. Many many new magic spells will be added.



I'm hoping to finish Dink Vacation before this Thanksgiving (11/22/2001) and a demo version of TOW before Christmas.



I was thinking to put out a website for my dmod process, but it would eat too much of my time, so I decide just post a message here.



If people show lots of interests and really like to know a little more about them, I will probably throw a quick page with a few nice screenshots in the near future.

It sounds good. I'm looking for something a bit new. new graphics and tiles really change the game. Do you plan on revamping dink's graphics? It would be a nice touch. I'll be keeping an eye out for it. Good luck! :)

Dink's Vacation...

I was going to make a D-Mod called Dink's Vacation, as a sort-of sequel to Lost in Dink.  It was going to be a collection of arcade games... Donkey Kong, etc.  I never started it.



Is your "Dink's Vacation" D-Mod going to take place on the Hero Vacation Day that was mentioned in Lost in Dink? :o

The timeline for "Dink Vacation" is set to about 2 years BEFORE the original game. So it is nothing to do with the Hero Vacation Day as Dink is still a no-name pig farmer at that time.



In fact, in order NOT to conflict the fact that Dink is STILL a no-name pig farmer, Dink Vacation would be kind of difficult because Dink won't be able to get his stat up too much. AND most of the functions in Ultimate Cheat cannot be used (even penalized, sorry :p ).



There will be a few arcade-like mini games in the game since there is a "convetion center" or amusement park in the game. But don't expect too much on those mini games because they are not the main plot of the game.



For Redink1 only: If you want to reserve the name "Dink Vacation" for your arcade game, please give me a better name. ;)

Nah, you can have it. :)  My "Dink's Vacation" project was envisioned way too long ago (probably a little over three years now), and I would be very surprised if I ever came back to finish it.

Oh my god!  I just had this big rant and then i slipped ant hit the esc button.  NOOOO!!!  It shouldn't be so easy to reset the form!  Bah, i was ranting about my game...and i forgot my user name, then i remembered it, and just before i was going to post it i hit esc...why?  I don't know!



Anyway, i'll just rant again! (probebly will be shorter though)



I've been working on Oklay-D Dink a bit, and i'll start picking it up.  I have my mp system down so the green bar stays relative to your percentage of mp.  I need to finish all my spells and include levels for them.  I have the status screen quite done with all the unique fixins, my new eq system, and the belt system.  I need to get my new item system...hehe system...in, but that'll be easy.  Basicaly, you can pick up LOTS of stuff.  You know, just a broom here, a small axe there, and drop them whenever you please, and they will be there to pick up again then.  Some will be needed for quests: ie "hey, go steal this guys broom and sweep my floor" "Hey, what the hell you doing with my broom!?" and stuff like that, but most won't.  So it'll be cool.  Oh, and big things, like the remote if any of you remember, you probebly won't be able to drop.  But those won't clutter your inv for long.  And potions, oh yeah, those will be on your belt, and i'll have 9 kinds of potions, 9 bombs, and 9 scrolls.  And you can carry up to however many your belt says you can.  So lets say you can carry 3 potions, and you can buy a weak pot, good pot, and antidote.  Logicaly you'd want one antidote, and two goods.  But the alchemist will require certain tasks for better potions.  One i have in mind for instance is that you need bonca blood as one of the ingredients.  So he sells you an empty vile and then you kill a bonca and talk to its corpse and it asks if you want to fill the vial.  It'll be explained well in the game.  Then yeah, bombs and scrolls the same way.  Lesse.. i suppose i should explain the weapon/armor system.  It's all in the status screen.  So the screen pop's up.  It shows you your eq for head, neck, body, hands, and feet.  Hands is where your weapon is.  Then you click on the one you want to change, and equip whatever you want.  This way you can have lots of stuff and not fill your inv.  Yay!  So anyway, what next...hrm..i suppose i could stop there....



So in conclusion (again!):

Look out for my re-release of my demo.  Very little map changed, very little story. I'll probebly make the intro worthwhile...though i like the tea party... And i'll make the axe's castle good, like you solve a couple puzzles to get to him, then he talks, reveals too much, and like, jumps in a portal where you need all the elemental crystals to go in for some reason.  It'll be better..and i think..i'll get rid of the big stupid axe...its been there as a joke for a damn long time, and its stupid...does everyone else find the big pixelated axe stupid?  Good, i thought so.  So anyway, please play my new release, it'll be very very good, i'm sure you'll like the  new changes.  And you can even look at my awesome coding.  Is there an advantage to putting it in .D?  Does it read it faster or something.  Whatever, yeah...

I haven't talked about Okaly-D Dink for quite some time....i have worked on it a little.  Not as much as i should though.  Do any of you even remember what i was doing?  Anyway, I've got the mp thing working, so your green bar is full relative to your mp.  I think that 1 magic will just equal 1 mp, i'm not sure yet.  I also have my status screen basicaly done, with all the cool things and everything.  My new equipment meathod is finished.  I haven't started my pick up/drop item thing, but that's gonna be easy, just a little  time consuming.  All i really have to work on is making the rest of my spells work good with spell levels included, and my skills.  I'm still pondering about the skills.....i was going to do kind of like the bow lore....so you find a scroll of a certain skill, and you have a book.  Then i decided you should only have so many 'equiped' at a given time, so i said, hey, for every level you are you can equpip one more skill.   Then i realized how bad a rip off of FFIX that is, and also that i don't know if i can think of and do 32 skills or more...i dunno, i'm still pondering what i'll do for the skills.  So yes, if your reading this rant, keep a look out for my new release of the demo.  It'll have very little added map (if any).  Maybe i'll make the intro and axe's castle worthwhile...like getting rid of the giant axe...i can't believe thats still there...it was a joke one of my friends made like, 2 years ago, to have a giant axe be the end boss....but hey, maybe it'll stick....crazy big pixelated axe....



and to wrap all this nonsense up:

I'm going to work on dink a little more now, i might even go do it just this moment.  So yes, do download my re-release of the demo, i think you will find it quite revolutionary.
