SOP Fairy Freezes Game & PC

When I get to that little fairy that says something link "I am so bored", I walk up to her. Then, the game and my PC freezes.  ;(  Anyone else have this problem?  I have tried to talk to her twice and got the same result.  I had to do a hard reboot of my PC (ouch).  Is the fairy necessary to the story or is she there just as a little bonus?  Someone please help!  Many thanx in advance!

You don't need him to finish the game, but he will give you a hint and you need him to go to heaven (hit the b@stard!:p)
