You need to become a priest of the Church of Righteousness. Then they will ask you to find a sacrifice. Make sure you have a bag of red rocks for translocation, a club and a bomb, then go visit the mother. Talk to her, ask her to become a sacrifice. She will refuse. Hit her once with the club which should knock her out, without killing her. You are taken to the Cliffs of Fire. Mary gets thrown in, you leap after her. Use translocation magic to zap around the islands (counter-clockwise in a decreasing radius) find Mary. Use a bomb to blow up the rocks guarding the tunnel leading out of the firey pit and you get the stone, plus keep Mary alive.
