Important
Ok...

I don't want to anger anybody so please don't take this badly, but... a few d-mods have content that kids shouldn't see, and since Dink is a game, well kids like games, so they might accidentally see stuff that they shouldn't, so please consider this in future d-mods.

I don't mind keeping a d-mod clean, but I can also appreciate those who want to let it all hang out , even get outrageous. That is what the rating system is for. My own kids like Dink, and the 8 year-old even shows a great aptitude for making a d-mod ( no kidding, he can't script, but he has the graphics down cold!). But when it comes to downloading anything, I just have to keep track myself...

That reminds me... I'm thinking of a d-mod about how Dink Smallwood got his name.......

Since the original game Dink Smallwood isn't a game for kids, why bother make the d-mods child-friendly?

parent-friendly D-Mods?

parent-friendly D-Mods is important! i deleted Isle of Croth when i saw the bordel graphics. imagine if mom comes into my room!!! i think the authors of non-parent/kid-friendly D-Mods must make censored versions too, with black squares or something...

I'm actually doing something like that in Crosslink. Two levels in fact, one to hide nudity, one to tone down naughty dialog* as well.

*defined as what I'd be embarrassed to have my sister read when she plays it.

I have to agree about Dink not being a game for kids though, not that there was really anything unsuitable in the original Dink, you can tell by Seth's trademark sense of humor that it's really aimed mostly at a somewhat older agegroup.

I agree with Christiaan that the Original Dink Smallwood Game isn't for kids. I think Dink is rated either Teen or Mature. You should have read the description and features of Dink before you played it.

If you want to know which dmod is not for kids, it is all of them especially Stone of Balance and Isle of Croth.

One more question, why do your email address that looks like it's been made up?

Re: Important
A nice idea, but since very few people plays Dink Smallwood, how many kids actually play it?

And yes, In IOC and SOB there are many too harsh sections for kids, but doesn't Simonk say it clearly in the start of the dmod? (Err.. At least in SOB. :p) AND, for another thing, isn't many dmods too difficult for the younger kids??

SO, basically it's nonsence to separate dmods into kid-safe and rated.. 'cause kids would anyways want to play the rated ones more than the kid-safe ones.....
hehe

it may still be good to make parent-friendly versions.

Who cares about the parents? This is YOUR game, just ALT-TAB out when they are entering your room!

Exactly. ;)

This isn't much of a problem..

And besides, now I just decided I want to play Isle of Croth some day soon. ;)

So the warning system definitely doesn't work with anyone. ;)
