cant move

Hi there,

I started to play DINK yesterday and I was very pleased that it has the same nice humor than LORD and LORD2 had.

So, I played until I found the first "save-mashine" to continue today. But unfortunately I cant. Loading the gamestate works well and also I can move around normaly until the screen scrolls into a new "section" of the world (quick side-scrolling, not the softscroll-thingy).

At this point Dink stucks and even hammering on my cursor-keys causes him only to twitch a bit and sometimes he moves some pixels in the direction I want him to.

I tried to uninstall my mouse, but this didnt help. I also cant find any help in the FAQ so I hope you can - can you please?

why do you want to uninstall your mouse? and do you mean that once you enter a new screen, everything works normal once more? if it is going that crazy, i would think you dont have enough memory to run the program, but maybe you just have a totally destruction computer virus that is slowly dissolving the innards of your system... well good luck.

The opposite is the case: once I enter a new screen, Dink (the avatar) stucks. The game itself (NPCs, sound etc.) works well.

I deinstalled my mouse to avoid possible hard/software-conflicts in any way. I thought this might be a good idea but: no changes.

Unfortunately I have 256 MB of RAM and no virus, so I fear that this things are not the problem at all.

What sort of screen do you end up to when you leave the save-machine screen? Does it fit in the other screens? (Like if there would be a tree at the edge of the screen, is there another half of it in the other side?)

Do you have a gamepad installed? Dink game only use mouse in the very beginning. Most of the game controls use plain old keyboard or a gamepad. I heard that if the gamepad is not adjusted, you would have problems to play the game. The other possible problem is your DirectX. You might check that...

Thanks to those who tried to help me.

I turned of the 3d-acceleration in directx-setup. Even the sympton was not the typical screen-flicker this helped :).
