EOT: "Special Trip" Help Needed

I have gotten into the village where a couple of the buildings are on fire.  I go and take the special trip so I will be able to move the boulder blocking the way to the wizard's house.  However, once I get into this red world, I can't get off the hill.  How in the world do I get around in that red world area?  TIA!

you must talk to the three small stones to the east. then you must find another stone of the same type and talk to it. now, talk to one of the three stones again and they will remove the big one blocking the way. once you are "free" you must walk around. there is one megapotion and a man who sells the herb boots spell. if you meat Seth, Milder and your mom before you have found those things i recommend loading the last saved game, because they are useful, , and you can just be there one time.
